The disambiguation of Macedonia
I do not think that all of the disambiguations that are currently under way are correct. For a lot of the revolutionary figures in the late 19th century and early 20th century is incorrect to say that they were born and lived in the Republic of Macedonia. Republic of Macedonia is a country created in 1991 after the breakup of Yugoslavia. This question has been discussed before and it is correct to say that the people lived in Macedonia or Macedonia (region). FunkyFly 04:19, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
: While it is true that they did not live in the "Republic of Macedonia", they did live in what is now that country, so a link to that article is the most appropriate of the options, albeit not 100 % perfect. Travelbird 04:22, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
::Not at all. Not all of the people lived in the Republic of Macedonia, neither did they fight for a country under the present borders. The most appropriate option is Macedonia (region) for events before WW2 FunkyFly 04:24, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
:::Disabiguation is not about fighting for a country, about borders or about anything political ! It's simply to provide users with the most practical way of finding information. A person looking up information on a Macedonian artist born in Skopje in 1980 will not be all that interested in finding links to Ancient Macedonia and Alexander the Great. Thus the disambiguation to Republic of Macedonia although this person will technically have been born in Yugoslavia. You will note that I should not have linked anyone not born in what is today's FYR Macedonia to Republic of Macedonia. Travelbird 04:32, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
::::If they are born in the 1980's you should link either to Yugoslavia, or to Socialist Republic of Macedonia. Those were the political entities at the time. FunkyFly 04:35, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
::::: Linking to Socialist Republic of Macedonia doesn't make any sense - it is itself a redirect page to Republic of Macedonia - for reasons similar to those stated above. Travelbird 04:40, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
::::::Ok, what you are doing is the same as saying that Amerigo Vespucci discovered the United States of America. For SRM, I did not notice that before. Maybe a separate article is needed. FunkyFly 04:55, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
::::::: No, what I am saying is that if Christopher Columbus discovered an island in the Caribbean that is now part of the Bahamas, I would link there, even though the State of the Bahamas didn't exist back then. Travelbird 05:01, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
::::::::The "what is now part of" is the important part. You cant just say he discovered the country of Bahamas or Trinidad or Costa Rica as a matter of fact. FunkyFly 05:02, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

::You're absolutely right. And I wouldn't do so. Nonetheless, if he founded the city of La Navidad, I would link to the city of that name in Cuba today - even though it may have different city limits, population etc. Linking is for information purposes only - links are not supposed to make political statements, they are simply provided on the basis of what is purported to be of most interest to the user. If a person was born in Leningrad, for example, a link to a page just saying "Leningrad is the former name for St. Petersburg - for more information look there" is not efficent linking. Thus the correct link should be : Mr. XY was born in 1970 in [St. Petersburg|Leningrad]. Travelbird 05:11, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
:::In the case of Macedonia is not a simple matter of renaming a place. The Republic of Macedonia in its present boundaries was cut out after 1912 as part of Serbia. FunkyFly 05:18, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
:::: So - where does that lead us. If a person was born in Skopje (Macedonia), he will have been born in what is now FYRM. And if I'm looking up Mr. XYcic and learn that he was born there I want more information about the country he is from, not the intricacies of border changes. If I look up Alexander the Great on the other hand, I'll be interested in his empire, thus the link to Macedon.Travelbird 05:23, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

:I dont want to get into political issues, read the talk pages of Republic of Macedonia, Macedonian language and related if you are interested. Simply put the question is very debatable. Just because a person was born in the city of Skopie in the 19th century, it does not mean they were in any way associated or aware of the present day Republic of Macedonia, which came much later. In any case, a specification "in present day Republic of Macedonia" is needed. FunkyFly 05:28, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
:: I think you're confusing linking and text. You are right - the text should read "born in Skopje, Yugoslavia (now Macedonia)". But the Macedonia part should be linked to Republic of Macedonia, because linking to a disambiguation page will have no justification if it is extremely likely the user will not be interested in the other (in this case historical) meanings of the word. Travelbird 05:32, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
:::I disagree that Macedonia should be linked to Republic of Macedonia, there is a heated debate about that. I agree with what you are proposing, with corrections ("born in Skopje, Yugoslavia (now Republic of Macedonia)") but I disagree with this and this. FunkyFly 05:48, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
:::: I don't quite know what issue you have with the Macedonia (region) links, since I would regard those are being fairly all-encompasing - but I can live with the changes you made. Travelbird 05:52, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
:::::OK, I overdid it a little, Macedonia -> Macedonia (region) is fine, but the others are not. I'll fix them tomorrow. Thanks for your efforts. FunkyFly 08:18, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

Timeline of Buddhism Revert
Nalanda was not destroyed in the Invasion of the Ghurids, Vikramshila was. Nalanda was sacked, Chag Lotsawa in 1235 found Nalanda burnt, looted, much less populated but still operational and active.

Also I added the event of Arghuns conversion of the Chagatai Khanate to Buddhism else what is the point of marking in his son Ghazan conversion and restoring the regions officially sanctioned religion to Islam??194.170.10.119 10:31, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

Michael Rapaport
I firmly believe you should not have reverted my addition to the Michael Rapaport page. If you had visited the link I posted with the edit, you would know that indeed there is a facebook group dedicated to the deification of Mr. Rapaport. I will not deny that it most certainly may be a silly group, but nonetheless, it is certainly related to Michael Rapaport for better or worse, and as a result, I feel it is a worthy contribution to the entry. Moreover, I certainly do not feel that what I added constituted vandalism in any way, shape, or form. 140.247.161.55 09:27, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

Sebastopol
Hi there -- you edited the corrections I made to the Sebastopol, Calif. page. The page, as you re-edited it, incorrectly states that the train ran through Sebastopol until the 1990s and that it stopped running after the streets went one-way.

The streets (Main St. and Sebastopol Ave.) went one-way in Sebastopol in 1985 and the railroad stopped running through town in early 1980s -- between 1983 and 1984.

I am a third generation Sebastopol resident and I have lived in Sebastopol most of my life. The changes I made were not "vandalism" they were in fact legitimate changes.
: The problem was, that you apparently vandalized [Bliss (image)] just a few minutes before. So I took the edits (with no citation given), to be vandalism as well. If these edits were indeed legitimate, feel free to change them again. But please give some kind of citation or explanation.

About Finland-Swedes
Hello, you wrote this to me: "Please refrain from removing content from Wikipedia, as you did to Swedish people. It is considered vandalism. If you want to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. A link to the edit I have reverted can be found here: link. If you believe this edit should not have been reverted, please contact me. Travelbird 12:47, 9 May 2006 (UTC)"

The thing is, that the Finland-Swedes are simply Swedish speaking Finns and not ethnically Swedes. Thus it is absurd to classify them as Swedes. I am a Finn myself, so i know how they think: they consider themselves Finns. In fact, most of them are simply from families that in some point in history just changed their language from Finnish to Swedish, this helped them climb the social latter in those days, because Swedish was the language of the rulig class and the language used in the state offices. Changing language doesn't make you a member of a different people! I can't see how Wikipedia could be considered a good encyclopedia, if it has absurdities like this.
: The language changing part is surely very debatable, especially since most Finnland-Swedes also have Swedish surnames. But regardless of the details, they should also be included on the List of Swedes, purely on the basis of their language - since that makes them Swedish - which btw doesn't exclude them from being Finnish also ! In any case, data should not just be removed Travelbird 11:41, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Madonna's Remixography page
Hii.

I hope I'm putting this in the right place. I got a vandalism warning for adding (updating) information (the remixes of Get Together) with information that is actually correct. I was wondering what that was for. Thanks!

Also, this doesn't really concern you, but I'm not sure exactly how to 'wikify' a long list. Could you help me out please?

Thanks,
~Bert

: I reverted the edits because the title "Kinky Funky Mix" seemd illegimimate Unfortunately 99 % of the edits containing words such as kinky, penis etc. are vandalism. If your edit was genuine, please accept my apologies.

As to the wikifying : In theory you should link everym single remix to a wiki-page of its own, e.g. Paul Oakenfold Downtempo Radio Edit (4:01) Promo Only to Paul Oakenfold Downtempo Radio Edit (4:01) Promo Only. I'm not sure if this would be worth the effort, as I would guess that most of these pages don't (yet) exist. Travelbird 22:13, 12 May 2006

(UTC)

The edit was genuine, that's actually what the mix will be called. Danny Howells usually uses that name for his work. A remix with the same name exists for Destiny's Child's song "Soldier" among others.

The remix names usually speak for themselves (i.e. that's a remix by Paul Oakenfold, and the ones that need specifications are in [] next to the title... it's more of a reference list than anything else. Well, thanks for your help!

My edits to skyscraper
Please inform me how you consider it to be vandalism. it is not, we should all know that the WTC, was in fact, destroyed by controlled DEMOLITION. So it was demolished. --71.125.65.226 14:47, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
: By your edit, you are creating the impression that the original attackes were a simple "demolition". That and the fact that you have also vandalized the page Yatta today does point very strongly towards vandalous intent on your part. Travelbird 14:51, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

Kingdom Hearts Edit
You recently sent me a message about my modification of the Kingdom Hearts article, which you changed. I changed it because some user named Apostrophe removed information I placed on there. Sorry to have caused any trouble, but can you restore the information I put on the article? Thanks in advance. 70.125.9.133 11:25, 13 May 2006
: I saw on the page history, that you were removing information, not adding any. Which information do you want restored ? Travelbird 15:52, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

In the history of the page, kingdom Hearts, you can see that I added information to the article last night. Afterwards, a user named 'Apostrophe' deleted it. Just check the history of the article, hes the only person who could've deleted it because he was the only person to change the article between when I added information last night, and when I deleted some today. 70.125.9.133 11:25, 13 May 2006

:: Apostrophe deleted some of your information because she/he regarded it as a violation of copyright. At the moment I can't fathom exactly why. Have you tried contacting Apostrophe in this matter ? Travelbird 16:02, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

Kaliningrad Oblast
Hi, Travelbird! Just wanted to let you know that I reverted most of your category additions to the Kaliningrad Oblast locations. The ones you categorized as cities and towns are in fact either rural or urban-type settlements, already categorized as such. None of them have town status. You may want to consult this article if the concept is unclear to you, or feel free to leave me a message. In any case, thanks for your interest and willingness to help!—Ëzhiki (ërinacëus amurënsis) • (yo?); 18:19, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
: Ok, I added another category : Category:Cities, towns and villages in Kaliningrad Oblast, although it does seem a bit nitpicky to exclude villages from Category:Cities and towns in Kaliningrad Oblast Travelbird 19:54, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
::Actually, the plan is to create the :Category:Urban-type settlements in Kaliningrad Oblast and :Category:Rural settlements in Kaliningrad Oblast (and indeed not only in Kaliningrad Oblast, but in every other federal subject of Russia) when enough articles about the settlements of these types exist to warrant category creation. Otherwise I would have just gone with :Category:Settlements in XXX (because believe it or not, there are other types of settlements besides cities, towns, and villages in Russia; a lot more :)). As for the list of "cities and towns", I'll clean it up eventually, when more articles on rural and urban-type settlements are written. Feel free to join in at any stage. Cheers,—Ëzhiki (ërinacëus amurënsis) • (yo?); 20:50, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
::: I would agree that "Settlements in KO" would be the best option, since it is the broadest and most inclusive. If you really want to, you could then go ahead and add Cities / Towns / rurual settlements etc. as subcategories Travelbird 21:00, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
