Edit summary for CSD tagged articles

I noticed that you are using an edit summary for CSD tagged articles and user talk page notifications that look like you are actually putting up the article for an AfD. For example, this summary. That can be a bit confusing, especially for new editors. Can you switch over to an edit summary that says you are tagging as CSD not an AfD? Thanks. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:03, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re your message: The AfD process and the speedy deletion process is different. You have been using the speedy deletion process. You are using the correct templates in the articles and messages left for the editors who created the article, but your edit summary on those two items says, for example, "AfD: Nominated for deletion; see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jonathan Epperson". That would indicate that you are using the AfD process, when you used the speedy delete process. Usually a speedy delete edit summary for the article will be the name of the speedy delete template used "{{db-bio}}" or "Requesting speedy deletion" or something like that. The edit summary for the user talk page is something like "Notification of speedy delete nomination of Jonathan Epperson". You can see what other editors use by checking the edit history of the articles at Category:Candidates for speedy deletion. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:18, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Re your message: Your new edit summary was fine. =) Thanks! -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:21, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: CSD Question

Re your message: Articles on schools should be deleted through an AfD. There are other articles that can't be speedy deleted. The list is at WP:CSD#Non-criteria. You should either use the Proposed deletion or AfD processes on those as appropriate. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:39, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption Request?

Hey, I was wondering if you were still looking to adopt a user. I've gotten most of the basics, like tagging articles for deletion, down. However, there is still a lot of stuff that I could use help with. Get back to me whenever you have time. Thanks! TheXenocide (talk) 23:42, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Of course. I will. Thanks. Techman224Talk 23:45, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What do you want to know about? Techman224Talk 23:45, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, here are just a few questions off the top of my head. How does one change their signature? Is there a certain way to find user boxes? Is it worth using a program like Twinkle, and if so how do I download it and work it? I'm sure I'll think of a few more as I go along, but those are the ones I've been wondering about recently. Thanks. TheXenocide (talk) 23:49, 15 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, firstly, the signature. You see in Special:Preferences that there's a Signature box, now if you check the "raw signature", you can put almost anything into the box as your signature. Now my signature is [[User:Techman224|<font color="339933">'''Techman224'''</font>]][[User talk:Techman224|<font color="3300ff">'''Talk'''</font>]]. You can replace the user and user talk pages with yours. But look at the font color, see the numbers, they tell the webbrowser what color is displayed. Go to list of colors, you can see a whole pile of colors. You want to put in whatever is in the Hex triplet row into the font color without the #. For this example, I've set techman224 to #E49B0F. It would look like Techman224Talk. Get it? Techman224Talk 01:55, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Post whatever you say on my talk page, that way I know when you said something. Techman224Talk 02:46, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

CSD declined

Hi TheXenocide. Just to let you know, I removed the speedy tag you placed at Hurricane (Kim Carnes song). CSD A9 does not apply when the artist (in this case, Kim Carnes) has an article. Best wishes, Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 01:45, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, thanks for informing me. I just have a quick question about articles like this, if you have time. At the time when I tagged this article there was no article for the album it was in, but there was one for the artist. So, would this apply to the CSD for being a sub-page of a non-existent page? Thanks. TheXenocide (talk) 02:18, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, glad to respond. No, CSD A9 says that if the artist's page exists then we cannot speedy an article about any type of recording by that artist. (Actually, in this particular case, the album article did exist, but the editor had messed up the link to it, making it appear as if it was a red link.) Let me know if you have any other questions. Cheers, Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 17:00, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

speedies

Kindly do not tag articles for speedy deletion as nn one minute after creation, when something is said that even possibly might be notable, and being a professor at mit is one of those things. People need time to write their articles, and it is perfectly legit to go a sentence at a time. For a one sentence article like that, if it stayed in that state another day or two, I'd have tagged it as unreferenced & reminded the creator to finish it. Of course, the sort of disruptive pseudo-bios you've also been correctly marking for speedy should be tagged immediately DGG (talk) 21:17, 21 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just responded to your query about this on my talk page. Apologies for the delay. DGG (talk) 21:49, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

November 23, 2008

Hey, just stopping by to ask you another question. I came by a new page today while I was patrolling, Wehn the Deer Wore Blue. This article appears to be about an actual album, and the artist has their own page, so I know it's notable. However, the title of the page should be "When", not "Wehn", and I can't seem to find any way to change this myself. What should I do in cases such as this? Gracias. :) TheXenocide (talk) 23:34, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just move it, and put the reason that your just fixing spelling. It's not a controversial move. Techman224Talk 02:20, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there...please remove the "speedy removal" tag on my article. I am a theatre professor and beginning my posts of those making a difference and hitting the theatre world.

Sincerely,

M. Thompson —Preceding unsigned comment added by MsMusicalMaker (talkcontribs) 03:42, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have expanded and sourced the artcle per Film MOS. It has a number of notables and might actually be an interesting drama to watch. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 00:10, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You did pretty good for a start, finding the notables in the cast which had articles. If it had not been for them, I would have voted delete right alongside you. I have the sense that when this hits wider distribution, there will be much more coverage because of those folks... but after all, its only ben a few weeks. Searching for sources was quite tough because the name itself brought up so many unconnected sites. Felt like washing my hands after the search (chuckle). Taklung Thangpa Tashi Pal

Hi,

you recently referred to an article (Taklung Thangpa Tashi Pal) I posted as below standards, which at that moment it certainly was. Would you consider the present appropriate, or can you give me more hints to improve on it?

A problem i have with the sources on this article and its parent (Taklung Kagyu) is that most of the information comes from direct interaction with Taklung monks and responsibles, and that there is no european reference available as yet.

Another thing is that I would like to completely remove the stub "Taklung Thangpa" which seems to be empty and useless.

Regards,

Posting messages on user’s talk pages

TheXenocide said “Please Note; if you want to contact another user, do not create an article. Post a message on his talk page.” That‘s what I thought I was doing. When I clicked the “To respond…” link, I saw that my login had somehow been lost, and that I was identified only by IP address. So, I pasted the secure part of the URL in front of the bit identifying the user; evidently without the desired effect. I have all cookies enabled etc. in a pretty vanilla browser (Safari 3.2), and it has happened before that I've been logged in for less than 5 minutes, and somehow the site “forgets” I’m logged in and gives my contributions a generic (ie. by IP address only) attribution. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Halibutron (talkcontribs) 05:37, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cannabis in New Zealand

I see that you shuffled some of the links around on the Cannabis in New Zealand article. I have reverted it to what I have seen as the most common and logical arrangement that is generally used on other articles. A Main article (if one exists) should go at the head of a section and a See also should go at the tail of a section. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 08:03, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
