Could you please explain how my edit was "unconstructive" and vandalism? I simply attempted to clean up a previous edit. It'd be nice if you didn't abuse your editor privileges so. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.147.228.133 (talk) 10:29, 18 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar

Thank you for the Barnstar Jim, much appreciated! I was surprised, relieved, and pleased to have received unanimous support for that page move. Vietminh (talk) 03:48, 6 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

FGM

I haven't been on Wikipedia in a while, just had an inkling that I should check the FGM page haha. I commented in opposition to the Requested Move and reminded the person that started it that they ought to have checked the recent archives before starting an RM, they would have found the RfC that clearly established overwhelming support for the term FGM. Your request for rollback

Hi Jim1138. After reviewing your request for rollback, an administrator has enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! That's me! Have doubt? Track me! 09:08, 20 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but the IP has a point: they explained their edits and opened up a conversation on the talk page. If you do not wish to participate in that discussion, that's fine, but you cannot simply revert and give them a final warning for vandalism: they are acting appropriately. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 01:29, 24 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You were actually quite right to revert IP's section blanking. The deleted material does discuss the motivation for rape and is therefore perfectly appropriate for the article on causes of sexual violence. --Sonicyouth86 (talk) 13:39, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding this edit [1]

I got logged out when I made that edit, it was made by me. I was undoing an edit made long ago just noticed that violated the respect for variants rule. This page appears to be written in American English, and when I uploaded that image and the caption was put in my me and another user, it was spelled without a U. With the exception of the U the caption was essentially the same, barring one or two edits made to clarify the Classic Edition title. Someone purposely put in that U, I just came across it, so I chose to fix it Thegreyanomaly (talk) 20:37, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[2] After I added it and DKQwerty reworded some parts, the form still had a U. Thegreyanomaly (talk) 20:42, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If can get consensus to ensure that the entirety of the page be written in British English be my guest, put keep in mind, we are talking about the video game, not the movie. It was published by an American company (Activision). Anyways I have to get off of Wikipedia for a while Thegreyanomaly (talk) 20:53, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Article "Grey"

I noticed your comment on my changes to the "Grey" article. I was only changing the spelling for consistency. After being reverted once, I went back through the history and realized the article's historical spelling of "color" I changed the article again for consistency for the other spelling. I added the American English template today to the talk page to reduce future confusion for myself and others. No harm done. :) —C. Raleigh (talk) 23:20, 27 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Queerditch Marsh

First I changed "Quidditch Marsh" in the article for Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup to "Queerditch Marsh". Then when you changed it, I not only added a citation this time, but changed the other inconsistencies I hadn't caught before. Ignoring my citation, you changed it again.

I understand you don't think I should vandalize pages, but I wish you would check yourself, especially when I have provided a citation. Queerditch Marsh, in Harry Potter lore, is the birthplace of Quidditch. The word evolved over time. And if you ever find a copy of Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup, you will find that the game mode in question is actually called "Queerditch Marsh". I wouldn't bother changing this one instance of the word and not all the rest if I just hated the word "Quidditch".

Thanks Samushighwind (talk) 02:16, 28 November 2011 (UTC) By the way-- since the wikia is apparently not a reliable source, can I cite the game itself? It's completely, completely silly that people are disputing a fact that is clearly present in the game. I could take a screenshot. But why does this need a citation when the rest of the article evidently does not? You can google search "Queerditch Marsh" and see that I am right. E♭ Instead of Eb

You reverted the edit I made to Songs from Les Misérables that changed "Eb" to "E♭" (that means E-flat. Perhaps I misunderstood exactly what "Eb" was intended to mean in the original version (which I doubt, merely because I'm not sure what else it could have meant), but even if this is the case, I fail to see how making that change was "not constructive," as your note indicates. What exactly is not constructive about seeing a perceived shortcoming with an article's formatting and fixing it? 71.195.205.27 (talk) 04:01, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You may already know this...

...but I mention it to help you avoid future problems. This edit did not correct a spelling error. See WP:ENGVAR. I apologize if I seem to be lecturing; that's not my intention. The Toronto Transit Commission has its pluses and minuses. However, each day TTC riders see these things mentioned plain as day; thus the statements and editions made are objective and repeatably observable. I take the TTC, regularly. I know what I speak of. Do you? To use a common phrase that gets batted around a lot lately: "I am the 99%" The nutshell: The point of view IS neutral, and constantly 'flagging' it because you disagree does not change its neutrality Mr. Bus Driver Man.

RE:December 2011

If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions about editing, you can leave me a message on my talk page.

Yes, I believe you have made a mistake by undoing my edit. As I written in my edit summary:
Neither the film nor the cast and crew(including Gemma) say anything about Tamara being the mermaid queen; therefore, she is only a mermaid
I understand completely of Wikipedia's tendency to take only what news articles state. However, films are a source too; so the way they are set up matters as well. No official film material states that Tamara was a mermaid...they say "Gemma Ward portrayed a mermaid named Tamara", but not "Gemma Ward portrayed a mermaid queen named Tamara". No such thing was stated in the film's original script, books, etc state that she's a queen: not even the cast and crew, including Gemma Ward herself.
But back to what I took out stuff, even though one was sourced. As you can see in my edit, I took out all the "mermaid queen" nonsense because nothing related to that is stated in your so-called source. The only thing that's stated is that Gemma Ward played a mermaid. That's it. Nothing else. Nothing saying "Oh, she's playing a queen!". So take that as a source that all of this mermaid queen business is just nonsense and gibberish made by the press.
Thank you for your time. 75.90.114.161 (talk) 03:11, 6 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your revert on Sollicitudi Rei Socialis

Hi, I merged two very short articles, according to a year-old merge request tag, and created a redirect. While I'm new to wikipedia I do believe that was appropriate and non-controversial. Can you explain why the revert? If it was a mistake would you please put it back? Thanks Jamelchior (talk) 02:23, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

you did put it back!! Thanks Jamelchior (talk) 02:31, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

Sorry Jim1138, thanks for deleting that piece of information on Naked (Dev song), i would never have noticed it as my annoying sister put that piece of info on it because she is in love with that song! Thank you again, Zach464~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zach464 (talkcontribs) 16:57, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

austin stevens

There was nothing wrong with the information in the austin stevens page.. all of that is fact — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.193.203.252 (talk) 22:09, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for trying to keep Wikipedia free of vandalism. However, one or more edits you labeled as vandalism, such as the edit at DeathClutch Gym, are not considered vandalism under Wikipedia guidelines. Wikipedia has a stricter definition of the word "vandalism" than common usage, and mislabeling edits as vandalism can discourage newer editors. Please read Wikipedia:NOTVAND for more information on what is and is not considered vandalism. Thank you. Best regards, Cind.amuse (Cindy) 22:59, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jim, I don't know about this edit. It seems to me that the IP was improving the article. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 01:58, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Glendora

The information that was added to Glendora, California's Wikipedia page is completely factual.

NPOV vioation

Sorry, but I would rather instead file a disruptive editing and WP:NPOV violation charge against Malik Shabazz. The Israellycool site and investigation therein is the very definition of a primary source. Shabazz's reversion is based on little more than his own political leanings. My posting is thus in need of escalation to arbitration, as I feel I cannot get a proper vetting from crowdsourcing, which will just go to disruptive editing and thus censorship. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DevilInPgh (talkcontribs) 07:48, 1 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker)Woah there. Arbitration is an absolute last resort. You are not prohibited from going to WP:ANI, but beware of WP:BOOMERANG.Jasper Deng (talk) 07:50, 1 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The blanking of pages

Thank you for your attentive and energetic activity in looking out for improper edits.

However, when it comes to the blanking of pages, you may want to take a pause before reverting. Wikipedia practice recognizes the blanking of pages as a way for an author of an article to request deletion of a page, and it's a legitimate request if he was the only one contributing substance to the article (according to WP:G7). In the case of Jay Rice, that's exactly what was going on. --Nat Gertler (talk) 02:20, 2 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

While the template says not to delete the template, that's primarily to prevent people from trying to stop the AfD process (and in fact the user had taken just such a step earlier). An appropriate reason for speedy trumps the need for an AfD. There may be a reading of procedure which would suggest restoring it, but that's more a matter of imprecise (or not-covering-all-contingencies) procedure, rather than the actual intent. --Nat Gertler (talk) 02:31, 2 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, misunderstood criteria. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Irvinyalom (talkcontribs) 08:38, 2 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That was constructive, actually

That edit was actually rather constructive, as it neatly concludes a discussion without breaking any guidelines. There was nothing wrong with it at all, actually. Chairvoyance (talk) 19:03, 2 January 2012 (UTC)</nowiki>[reply]
