RE:Japanese translation help
Here's a rough translation/English equivalent of the intro page to the first interview.
:"March 21- Nintendo has finally released the next generation portable game console, Game boy Advance. Earlier during the same day, the long lines of faces lined up outside the stores challenge the new hardwares potential. (Note: not entirely sure about that last sentence) During that time, Famitsu saw the software. Nintendo sends the hardware out confidently along with F-Zero for the Game Boy Advance. Before sales become tense, we'll try to release out a full article (in the March 30 Famitsu publication) of an interview with the three developers."

There rest would require more free time than I have right now. I'll try to do some more later this week. Here's a google translation if it's any help. You may also want to try posting at WT:JAPAN and checking out :Category:Translators ja-en. You could get a quicker response from someone more experienced at translating. (Guyinblack25 talk 17:50, 26 November 2008 (UTC))

Hi, FMF. Sorry I've taken so long to help. I'm really not an expert in Japanese, and I think Guyinblack's translations are about as good or better than mine might be. I notice you've been using the google translate function. That's a very good starting point. I think the best way to perform amateur translations involves making multiple translations and cross-referencing them. So to help you, I've got two cross-references robo-translators which you can use to compare them back and forth to see how they are differently translated:
*From Google Translate - page 1, page 2, page 3, page 4
*From Excite.jp - page 1, page 2, page 3, page 4
Then I would also try copy&pasting into BabelFish and using a good dictionary. With that you should be able to translate just about anything. I'm sorry I can't be of any more specific help, but like GuyinBlack said earlier, I need a good few hours in a row to give what I would consider to be a good translation.<br/>
As far as your other question about the pink box, I left a note at my talk. What pink box are you talking about? It would help if you were more specific. Cheers. -Thibbs (talk) 19:12, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

きっかけ - "Opportunity"
:Here's the first section (きっかけ - "Opportunity") on the first page:
::"—First off, wed like to ask when the story for F-Zero for the Game Boy Advance came about?
::Shimizu- Well, the year before last, 1999 right? Around October or November."
::—This is the first installment on a portable game systems in the F-Zero series. It came out on the Super Nintendo. It also came out on the Nintendo 64, but a Game Boy version does not exist. Wed like to ask if there is a reason for this?
::Yamagami- I was not possible with the Game Boy's performance.
::—If a Game Boy version was made that was only called a Game Boy version, but you thought the gameplay would be changed a little and the sense of speed lost, would you start? (Note: Not too sure about the wording of this question, which can sometimes effect the whole meaning.)
::Shimizu- That would not be complete.
::—That's what I thought, being picky. (Note: The literal translation of the last half doesn't make much sense to me. Something about "part of prejudice". I did some google searching and found the prejudice term used in food preparation, and guessed what would fit here.)
::Shimizu- That's right. When using the Game Boy, that form is not possible. That is really not F-Zero. The reason for the difference is it becomes a lesser game. (Note: The last sentence was really tough to interpret, and I'm not confident in my translation.)
:I'll try to get to the other sections another time. Hope it helps. I'd also recommend a second opinion. (Guyinblack25 talk 18:10, 4 December 2008 (UTC))

Hi! I am Japanese. I translate E to J, but not J to E. I checked the translation above and corrected. But remember, my English is far from perfect.<br />
The first question. ...when the story for F-Zero for the Game Boy... The story→the plan.<br />
The second answer. I was→It was.<br />
The third question. ... but you thought the gameplay would be changed a little and the sense of speed lost, would you start?→Probably the play would be changed and the sense of speed would go down. Didn't think that you'd dare to make the game Boy version, did you? <br />
The third answer. That would not be complete.→I never thought it at all.<br />
The fourth question. That's what I thought, being picky.→Because that you are meticulous? Or because you don't want to settle for anything less?<br />
The fourth answer. ...That is really not F-Zero. The reason for the difference is it becomes a lesser game.→The game would be not F-Zero any more. It would be just another race game. That's the reason (I didn't make the Game Boy version). <br />
Hope my correction will helpful. Oda Mari <small>(talk)</small> 16:30, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
役割 - "Role"
:Sorry for the long delay. Translating is not that easy for me and I need a good 45-60 minutes of uninterrupted time, which I don't always have. Anyway, here's some of the second section (役割 - "Role") on the first page.
::"Left picture caption: Nd Cube Kamiyama Takashi- Belongs to the company as a graphic designer. He participates as a graphic designer. (Note: I think "participates" refers to his role in the game, but it's not that clear to me.)
::::He participates as a graphic director for the game. (correction by Oda Mari)
::—Actually, we'd like to ask about the role, whatever it is, Nd Cube had in the plan and story of F-Zero for GBA (the next F-Zero)? (Note: Not to confident about this one, but this is the only sentence that made sense in my head)
::::We'd like to ask you about your role after you actually have heard the news or plan that Nintendo would produce F-Zero for GBA (which shortened as F-Zero in the following interview). How did ND Cube get involved in it? Oda Mari <small>(talk)</small> 17:57, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
::Kamiyama- In the beginning, an F-Zero demo was made as part of the GBA's promotion. That exactly, a GBA version of F-Zero, doesn't make it's own story. With it already made under the assumption of receiving, it came to the point of joining. (Note: The last two sentences really threw me for a loop, I'd definitely get a second opinion. I think they're saying that making the demo allowed Nintendo to give them a story or plan for the game.)
::::We were making F-Zero demo for the GAMEBOY ADVANCE promotion at first. Just then, down along came the job of making the actual F-Zero. We said we were eager to make it and we joined the project. Oda Mari <small>(talk)</small> 15:24, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
::Yamagami- First, when making a game at Nintendo, it's a case of whether or not it can be made inside the company. However, when making a game, it's not possible to have too many talented people. Therefore, a place to work together with must found. (Note: I believe place refers to another company, but I could be wrong) Coincidentally, work was already done by the Nd Cube demo, and requesting a plan is quick. With Shimizu as the director and the Nd Cube staff together as a team, the game developed over a year. (Note: This confused me some because the first sentences sound like general statements, but the last sentences switch to the specific scenario of the game without much contextual transition.)"
::::..However, we cannot have/hire so many people in order to make any game at any time. Therefore, we have to find some company to work with. At that time, coincidently Nd Cube was making the demo. So we thought it would be quicker and easier and asked them to join in. We made a project team with Simizu as a director and the Nd Cube staff and developed the game over the year. Oda Mari <small>(talk)</small> 15:49, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
::—Among those, what was Kamiyama's role? (Note: I believe "those" refers to the team.)
::Shimizu- Well, he was not initially part of the staff. By that time, someone had done machine designs that were high quality under the assumption that an experienced graphics designer would be used. (Note: This is the only way the sentence worked in my head, I may have missed the intended meaning though.) Because the Advance's F-Zero uses 2D graphics, Kamiyama was chosen as the artist to combine it because of his excellent pixel art. By that time, the work to make the Game Boy work increased.
:Again, sorry for the long break. Hope this helps some. (Guyinblack25 talk 22:00, 10 March 2009 (UTC))
::Another question. (Guyinblack25 <sup>talk</sup> 22:16, 11 March 2009 (UTC))
::::Shimizu- ...We had several designers who designed machines or other things. We needed someone who had supervised and arranged the total graphical works. ...He has created several works for Game Boy before. Greetings! I would like you and I to work on the F-Zero (series) articles with me. I noticed that you brought F-Zero GX and List of F-Zero media to FA and FL status. So I thunk that if we get F-zero (series) to at least to GA status, we might have a FT with the three articles, F-Zero and F-Zero X. Please give me a yes or no on this plan. == Re: NDS ==

Somewhat like that. I think in the midst of our excitement to write an article about a brilliant subject, we tend to forget that there might be many who would not know of the situation or background related to the subject, and focus on the minutae of details. It is our job to help them understand the context and to make them interested to read the article. Hence, it seems important to me to set up the context for why the DSi is an achievement for Nintendo at the start. I found something else that may or may not actually be useful: GI mentions the F-Zero series in their piece "The Top 10 Sequels In Demand". Okay, so it didn't make the top 10, but it was listed as one of the 28 other series they'd like to see sequels to. It might be a bit too nominal of a shout-out to warrant inclusion in an article, but I thought I'd run it by you anyway and let you decide. Let me know if you want the data for a reference. == Re: List of F-Zero characters ==

Unfortunately I've been unable to locate the original source for Captain Falcon's connection to Kamen Rider, but it's not the only reference Sakurai has let into the Smash Bros series. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl there's the song "Go K.K. Rider!", which is arranged in the style of the original Kamen Rider theme "Let's Go Rider Kick!". The quote "Heroes always arrive late." is another hint at the inspiration for the song. Furthermore, Kamen Rider 1's voice actor from "Kamen Rider SD" (Hideyuki Tanaka) was hired to do Captain Falcon's voice in the "F-Zero Falcon Densetsu" anime. Also, it's stupid-obvious. 79.136.75.48 (talk) 16:10, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
:I don't know if Captain Falcon has a connection to Kamen Rider or not, but I just feel like pointing out that "Go K.K. Rider! is actually from the Animal Crossing series not the F-Zero series, so it's very unlikely that that one particular song supports any connection between the two. the quote "Heroes always arrive late" may connect the Animal Crossing song to Kamen Rider. It would be really hard to prove that the voice actors were hired to show a connection between the two either. Finally being "stupid-obvious" doesn't really fit the criteria for inclusion on Wikipedia. I Feel Tired (talk) 02:54, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

F-Zero was released in the early '90s, which will limit my options in searching. I mentioned on Talk:WPVG that I could find mid-late '90s or early-mid '00s material; this is because the Internet hadn't been widely adopted before the mid '90s. *Sorry, but I couldn't find much. I found a few things—reviews, previews, etc.—about its N64 and GameCube sequels, but no development on the SNES version. I did manage to find a Games Radar (pre-2006, when they were a totally different site) review for a GBA version that notes, "Faster than a greased whippet and, indeed, pretty much anything around, F-Zero is a magical racing game. But then again, it always has been; the original SNES game served as the template for countless future racers, Wipeout included, and the N64-only F-Zero X is a masterpiece of track design, control and huge racing thrills". While Games Radar is no print source in terms of reliability, their reviews were still published by Future Publishing, one of video games' biggest publishing houses. Here's a link to the review: . == Number of remotes supported by the Wii console ==

Why did you revert my change of 08:51, 8 December 2009 (Wii actually supports up to 16 remotes according to the Systems Setup manual) on the Nintendo Wii article? It's quite clearly stated on Page 28 of the Wii 'System Setup' operations manual that came with my new Wii, and although I can't find an electronic copy of this document, there are hints in other documents online (e.g. http://2ksports.com/downloads/new/all/3 , page 4 - 'A Wii console can have up to 16 Wii Remotes synched to it – 10 in Standard Mode
and 6 in One Time Mode', and on the official Nintendo website hints at more than 4 as well (http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/downloads/wiiBalanceBoard.pdf, 'Up to a total of
10 Wii Remotes and accessories can be synchronized to a console at any time with the
Standard Mode procedure.') Although the controllers only have 4 lights on them, the console still supports more.

Just trying to update a small piece of inaccuracy, not making any points! Minkus (talk) 17:44, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

*Oops, sorry about that double-message. I was having a lot of trouble posting a new topic. Anyway, I'm continuing work on the article, and it's going smoothly. While copyediting, I often rearrange and merge paragraphs for clarity, as I have already done here. References are usually displaced when this happens, even though I try to avoid that; watch for it before re-nominating the article for FAC. One problem I've noticed so far, which is unrelated to prose, is the very strange introduction to the DSi XL in History. Paragraph 3 makes perfect sense until its final sentence, "Various names for the DSi XL were considered, including "DSi Comfort," "DSi Executive," "DSi Premium", "DSi Living" and Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto's "DSi Deka" (Japanese for "large")". This really needs something to make it flow together with the rest of the paragraph; as it is, it doesn't make much sense in the given context. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 02:20, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
**I axed that line because it didn't really make sense to me, and didn't seem to add anything to the article. Now that you've explained it, I understand a bit more; I'll try to fit it in somewhere. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 09:47, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
***Glad to hear that you're not in a hurry, but I still apologize that the copyedit has taken this long. I've been really busy with other, non-Wikipedia projects, recently. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 21:31, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
****I'm really sorry about the delay; I've been unbelievably busy recently, even more so than before. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 02:33, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
*(Outdent) The first pass, after a ridiculous amount of time, has been completed. Now that the major problems with the text have been neutralized, a second pass will be made, in order to tighten everything and make it flow more cohesively. I'll make a special effort to get this part done quickly, so that you can finally renominate the article. Once I've finished, I don't think you'll have any more prose-related complaints from FAC; out of the past three articles I've copyedited, two were featured, and the third failed because of complications unconnected to the writing. I noticed you created this article in response to the FAC and other comments, but at this point, I think it's ok to gently trim and fold it back into the main DSi page. If you got non-Wikipedia questions, next time try emailing first. Regarding accounts there, if you are not using a public email service (Hotmail, etc), it will take a while to get approved. Maybe you can try to submit your application again. I first submitted it and after 8 or so months they made a note that they had lost all the applications due a software failure, so I resubmitted it again, after another 8 months it didn't get verified, so I resubmitted it once more and in a couple of weeks it was accepted. You didn't need to put the article up for deletion, all you had to do was contact an administrator & ask them to put protection on the page so people can't change it back from a redirect (then if we ever need an article for the system, the protection could be removed). SNS (talk) 21:06, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
:A user cannot request page protection for an article simply because they believe it should be a redirect while others disagree. In contrast, one could argue that the page should be protected to prevent users from making it a redirect. As far as I can tell, no discussion has taken place where general consensus was to redirect the page (correct me if I'm wrong, perhaps there was a conversation). I think putting the article up for deletion was appropriate, as that would determine whether it should be kept or deleted/redirected. Hi, I first wanted to say thanks for keeping up the list, at times it takes me a few days to check up on the list and revert any changes that are possibly vandalism. I also wanted to ask you if you could figure out why the caption of the new image doesn't seem to work, I've tried it a few different ways but it doesn't seem to work. I wanted the images of the carts to appear down below the main introduction, and to the left of the console picture, but I couldn't figure out how to do that either without making a big blank space below the other image and text. I hope you can figure it out. I've been trying to update it to meet the new concerns of the new featured list discussion, so far I think they're going good, and it's moving away from the titles only and more towards a article that actually have information in it. Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

Hello, I am Tucayo, staff member of the Nintendo Independent Wikis Alliance (NIWA). In past days, the rest of the NIWA staff has expressed interest in this wiki you apparently are a bureaucrat of. Currently, the wiki is inactive, and we are planning to help your wiki, by increasing the traffic to it, and even help it become independently hosted. The only thing we would need in exchange for this, would be to promote some of our staff to Administrator to help your wiki during this process. Since you're a bureaucrat on the wiki, your input would be much appreciated, especially on the 'leaving Wikia' topic, since it's your wiki, and your decision on where you want the wiki to go. Thanks! **I'm currently working on the Gameplay section. I've been simplifying the language and altering its structure, in an attempt to make it more cohesive and easy to understand for the uninitiated. However, as I do not own the game, and am not well-versed in high level fighting game mechanics, I may have misinterpreted certain passages, deleted critical information, or improperly sorted facts. I'm really just groping around in the dark on a lot of this stuff. Feel free to correct/revert some of my alterations if I make mistakes. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 09:47, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
***The linked sentence makes sense to me, actually, but I hadn't read that far. When copyediting, it's my habit to read only as far as I've edited. I have yet to even read the bottom paragraphs of the Gameplay section.
***Anyway, the reason I cut down on the control information was because, often, it's more confusing to explain complex gameplay mechanics in detail than it is to leave them vague. I learned this while working on Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri's Gameplay section. Terra Nova is just about the most complex game I've ever played; the amount information on controls, weapons, tactics and landscapes is enough that I could have gone on for 10 massive paragraphs. However, I mercilessly cut away at gameplay information—even stuff that's critical in harder missions—that did not allow non-gamers to simply and quickly understand how the game is played. This was aided heavily by my own knowledge of the game; I don't have that luxury in this case.
***I'll keep trying to improve TvC's Gameplay section; hopefully, I don't reduce it to complete nonsense. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 22:12, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
*****Finally done messing with the Gameplay section. Hopefully, the facts weren't screwed up too badly. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 08:48, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
******I recommend finding a second copyeditor if you want the article ready for nomination by the end of the month. I'm working as fast as I can, but I'm only about half-way through my first pass. On top of that, I've read the Gameplay section so many times that I don't think I could do a reliable second pass on it—I'm too close to the text. I'll continue working, but a fresh pair of eyes as back-up would be for the best, and they would make everything go way faster. If you can't think of anyone to ask, I suggest User:Guyinblack25; I've recently seen him offering copyediting assistance here and there. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 09:24, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
*******Since you plan to nominate this for FAC, I thought I'd make a suggestion. The development section, while reasonably large, seems like it could do with more information. Is there any way you could beef it up before nominating the article? For example, the reason why Hakushon was cut, if available, would be very interesting to include. I remember reading about that, at one point, but I can't recall where. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 08:40, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
********I'll see if I have time this week. Otherwise, I probably won't get to it until early January. :-/ (Guyinblack25 talk 16:22, 20 December 2010 (UTC))
outdentSounds good. Making development a little bit more comprehensive would significantly improve the overall article. I'll finish up on Release soon, and then move down to Reception. I'm not sure I can get it all done by the end of the month, so I hope that the first few days of January won't be too inconvenient. I thought I'd note, though, that there are two sections called "Release", which I don't believe will go over well at FAC. I've been trying to think of what to rename the one in Reception, but haven't had any success. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 15:51, 26 December 2010 (UTC)
*Nice; the expansion of Development was a big improvement. I'll start working on Reception today or tomorrow, and, hopefully, either you or I can come up with a new name for the "Release" subsection. On the subject of FAC, it looks like it could probably be nominated by the end of the month; a complete second pass may not be necessary. I'll continue copyediting the article during the nomination, though, and Guyinblack will probably lend a hand with the Gameplay section. If any 1a concerns arise, I'll help deal with them. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 17:00, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
**I implemented your suggestion on the first of the Release subsections, as I thought the new name made more sense up there. That problem's solved; now, I just need to finish Reception, and you should be all clear for FAC. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 15:55, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
***Finished. Feel free to nominate it at your leisure. Like I said above, I'll do further work on the prose, should it become an issue. You might want to double-check with Guyinblack, though, to see if he's still up for working on the Gameplay section. The section shouldn't pose a major problem, but it's always good to have a plan B. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 17:17, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
****They look fairly clear; I'll clean them up and insert them as soon as I can. Sorry I haven't been editing the article more frequently, but it's been a busy couple of days. Things have cleared up now, however, and I should be getting back to work tomorrow. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 08:44, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
* I started re-reading the article yesterday and plan to comment today if time allows for it. (Guyinblack25 talk 14:58, 21 January 2011 (UTC))

Failed nom
Sorry to see that Tatsunoko vs. Capcom failed. Honestly, it seems unfair; there were no outstanding complaints, and it'd only been up since the 8th. I think you should renominate it in a week or two. Just be sure to leave a review request at Talk:WPVG if it gets ignored again. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 00:04, 31 January 2011 (UTC)
*Yeah, that must have been it. Hopefully, the second nomination goes over better. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 23:47, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
**I can't really help on the points where he asked for clarification; I've never played the game, and I barely understand any of it myself. I did a few of the minor tasks, though. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 19:20, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
***I apologize, but I'm afraid I don't have time to fix the problems Andy brought up. Real life has taken up most of my time, and I've refocused what little Wikipedia time I can salvage on to my Looking Glass Studios featured topic project. I've already had to bow out of my collaboration with User:Guyinblack25 and User:S@bre on Day of the Tentacle, and my promise to copyedit User:PresN's thatgamecompany featured topic. Sorry. Andy's concerns didn't appear to be major, though, so it shouldn't be hard to make a few adjustments to the article. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 06:29, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
****You're welcome, and I'm glad I could help. Anyway, congratulations on getting another article to FA! That was a pretty tough FAC; I'm glad everything came together in the end. Good luck on your future projects. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 21:24, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

Re: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars
What I meant was that you could actually get away with uploading a slightly larger image. The current one is only about .05 megapixels; increasing the dimensions would allow readers to distinguish the elements more easily; the general rule of thumb is <.1 mp. <font color="#cc6600">Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs</font><small>(<font color="#ff6600">talk</font>)</small> 01:23, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
:For whatever reason Mediawiki's scaling algos are awful, but you can avoid the weird sharpening effect by using PNGs instead. <font color="#cc6600">Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs</font><small>(<font color="#ff6600">talk</font>)</small> 22:29, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

You seem to cite my comment about Mario & Sonic's DS version playing a poor second fiddle, without providing proper reason for citing it. Are you implying that removing an image with a poor fair use rationale that discusses content not referenced in the article has anything to do with what I said? - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 07:41, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

A user created the article of List of Bleach episodes (season 15) without a reliable source to confirm that it should be redirected.
