Byron Kenneth Armstrong was an early recipient of the Ph.D. in education from the University of Michigan, and co-founder of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity.
Armstrong received the Laurel Wreath Award, the fraternity's highest award, in 1935.
Armstrong received his Ph.D. in 1938, one of only 79 Ph.D.s in education granted by the University of Michigan before 1940.[1] He subsequently served as a professor of education at Langston University.[1]
