Oristem®
[edit]Oristem® is an adult stem cell storage service developed by Pharmacells Ltd - a United Kingdom (UK) biotechnology company that owns rights to a patented method of harvesting and storing a new type of very naive pluripotent adult stem cells collected from adult venous blood called Blastomere Like Stem Cells (BLSC). These Blastomere Like Stem Cells (BLSC) are said to be significantly immature. The cells have unique properties that ressemble cells during very early embryonic development which are surprisingly retained in adult.
History
[edit]Oristem® was founded in 2008, as part of Pharmacells™. It is the fist UK adult stem cell banking service to acquire a license for the processing and storage of blood derived stem cells form the UK Human Tissue Authority (HTA).
The Technology
[edit]The technology was designed around a temperature controlled collection kits that uses the Nanocool™ technology to preserve the cell's intergrity.
