Howdy, I'm Raskuly, or just Rask! I go by the name Brandon, and I like to edit Wikipedia pages as a hobby. I've really increased my activity on the site as of late, and I've been trying to learn more about Wikipedia. I'm always learning and I will make mistakes, so please approach me politely about anything I've done wrong! Originally, I mainly contributed to lists, and I still do, but I've shifted to writing proper sections of articles instead. Typically, I write about tropical cyclones in the Atlantic basin, crime in the United States, and association football.

I was born in Maryland, but I've lived in Florida since I was 4-years-old, and I have little memories of my time in Maryland and Virginia (where I lived even longer), so I consider myself essentially a native Floridian. I have Central American and West Indian ancestry from my grandmother's side, more specifically Honduran and Caymanian, but on my grandfather's side I have ties to England and settlers of the Delmarva region.

My grandmother immigrated to the United States from the Honduran cay island of Bonacca south of the larger island of Guanaja and settled in Florida in the early 1950s while my grandfather, who was from Virginia, served in the United States Air Force. They met, and despite my grandmother's darker skin (remember, he was from the south), they fell in love, married, and had four children. Their youngest and only son was my father, and he had me with one of his girlfriends. I don't know much about the specifics of my mother's ancestry, but she appears to have heavy ancestral ties to England as well.

I'm a big fan of association football, or soccer, and I'm a supporter of Orlando City. I don't consider myself an outright fan of other clubs, but I am fond of Arsenal, Wrexham, Bradford City, Le Havre, 1. FC Saarbrücken, Racing de Ferrol, and Bari. Growing up I played soccer, but I got out of when I was around 13-years-old when I was a member of Titusville Soccer Club, but around 18-years-old I got into the sport again. I really wish I would've stayed interested with the sport because I might've been able to play at a high school or college/university level.

I should receive my associate's degree relatively soon, but I'm unsure what I want to do after that. I've thought of studying history, photography and videography, and social work among other things, but I remain undecided.

Editing milestones

[edit]

My 500th edit was undoing my own edit after I screwed up the template map for the List of mass shootings in the United States in 2022 article by accidentally adding an extra negative sign to a longitude value on March 4, 2022.

My 1,000th edit was correcting my own grammar mistake on the article for storm chaser and businessman Josh Morgerman after I unnecessarily capitalized "de" in Boca de Yuma on September 22, 2022.

My 1,500th edit was updating Wrexham footballer Paul Mullin's injury situation, noting that he had recovered and made two appearances on September 17, 2023.

My 2,000th edit was simply altering the description for a photo I added to the Orlando City article featuring the club's ultras on March 8, 2024.

My 2,500th edit was adding Markeis McGlockton, manslaughter victim, to the Boca Ciega High School notable alumni list on May 21, 2024.

My 3,000th edit was responding to a Wikipedian in a talk page who suggested deleting the Attempted assassination of Donald Trump article on July 14, 2024.

My 3,500th edit was blotting out August–December on the monthly statistics of the List of mass shootings in the United States in 2024 article in order to dissuade it being filled out preemptively on August 3, 2024.

My 4,000th edit was simplifying MLS club article links on Canadian soccer player Cyle Larin's article on September 18, 2024.

My 4,500th edit was posting a message on a user's talk page who falsely accused me of vandalism in lieu of WP:FAITH and my post on the article's talk page about it after I removed tabloid reports about a potential rape committed by Kylian Mbappé in Stockholm, Sweden in which he had not even been accused of a crime yet by Swedish authorities on October 16, 2024. Ultimately, the decision was not to include it in the article unless Mbappé was formally accused of a crime, which I was in favor of.

My 5,000th edit was noting that Orlando City had let Felipe Martins' contract expire at the conclusion of the 2024 season and were not interested in pursuing an extension on December 5, 2024.

It's good to see the new generation of Pirates stepping up to the plate to update the Port Charlotte High School article; I've been meaning to work on that as well as Charlotte High School, Lemon Bay High School, and North Port High School, (I don't hate the rivals anymore), but busy adult life has been keeping me from doing so. From a c/o 2010 Pirate. Go Pirates! PCHS-NJROTC (Messages)Have a blessed day. 01:04, 13 March 2021 (UTC)

For your remarkable work keeping the template for the map of US mass-shootings up-to-date. I don't know how it feels to be recognized for something like that, but it's something that needs to be done, and having the mental fortitude for that is worthy of recognition. Seriously incredible job. TheTechnician27 (Talk page) 21:05, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
