Saskia Buresova was employed in the Czechoslovakian Television since 1967 up until its dissolution in 1992, and was subsequently employed by the then-newly established Czech Television (ČT). She took part in Czech Radio's show The Carousel (Kolotoč). Her primary focus since the year 2000 is on ČT's weekly program by the name of The Calendar (Kalendárium)

Her career began in 1967 when she first started to co-present a bi-weekly show with Eduard Hrubeš. The show, called The Mailbox (Poštovní Schránka[1]), was meant for basic service soldiers. The show was renamed after the events of the August occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1968 took place, and its new form, called The Traffic magazine (Dopravní Magazín), had little to do with the original. She then took up the mantle of a radio presenter.

She became famous for her role in the events of the final day of the year 1992, because she was the one to announce the dissolution of Czechoslovakia on live TV. From the year 1993 onward Saskia presents The Calendar which is broadcast on ČT1 every Sunday morning. The show revolves around reminiscing over significant events in history that took place on a given day in the week it's broadcast on[2]. The director of The Calendar was at first Zdeněk Beránek, however later on he was replaced by Saskia's husband, Petr Obdržálek, who brought in many interesting elements and tricks.

She also presented other shows in the 90's aside from The Calendar, shows such as Enter, please (Vstupte, prosím) and Unknown fates of the known ones (Neznámé osudy známých). Her career in radio ended in the year 2000 due to disagreement with management over a newly-introduced system of alternating work-shifts where shifts changed after whole weeks.

Her repertoire also includes voiceover work as she dubs the narration for educational films. She co-authored an autobiography book about herself titled Saskia with Vítek Chadima in which she tells stories about not just her interesting job but also about her television co-hosts.[3]

Her husband from the year 1972 onward is Petr Obdržálek (* July 6th 1941), who she has a son Peter (* 1974) with.[4][3]
