Founding and early rears (1974-1999)

[edit]

J.S. Held was founded in 1974 by Jerome S. Held in New York City, initially offering property damage consulting services, then expanding within the construction industry. In response to the increasing complexity of construction projects, J.S. Held expanded its range of consulting services throughout the 1980s and 1990s.[5]

[edit]

In the early 2000s, J.S. Held introduced new services, including property damage consulting, construction consulting, and builder’s risk. In 2015, an investment from Lovell Minnick Partners, a private equity firm, facilitated a series of acquisitions that helped expand the company’s capabilities.[6][7]

Strategic acquisitions and global expansion (2015-2020)

From 2015 to 2020, J.S. Held grew through multiple acquisitions in such areas as forensic accounting, environmental consulting, and forensic engineering. Notable acquisitions during this period included Applied Environmental Health & Safety (AEHS), Bracken Engineering, Antonucci Consulting Corp., Donohue Consulting, and VWM Analytics, expanding the firm’s capabilities in construction claims, dispute resolution, and business investigations.[8][9][10][11][7]

Recent developments and continued growth (2021-Present)

[edit]

J.S. Held continued its growth through acquisitions in 2021 and 2022, adding firms such as GPW Group, Ocean Tomo, and Kodsi Forensic Engineering, which expanded its services in global investigations, intellectual property, and accident reconstruction. The company’s expansion continued in 2023 with the acquisition of Environmental Consultants, LLC, Phoenix IB, Phoenix Management Services, and Africa Matters Limited. In 2024, the company acquired Kenzie Consulting Group and Forensic Resolutions, Inc., further extending its expertise in risk consulting and insurance claims assessment.[7][12][13][14][15][16]
