Klaus Thymann (born in Copenhagen in 1974) is a London-based fashion photographer.
He is the grandson of the Olympic rower Paul Thymann http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Poul_Thymann
Career
He started working as a photographer at the age of 14 photographing tourists in Copenhagen for the canal tour, after which he started working for various news papers and publications in his teenage years. In 1996 he won as, the youngest ever the Scandinavian “Kodak Gold Award”, numerous awards and honors have followed since.
Thymann began working with various UK and UK publications and in 2000 he moved to London. Currently he is contributing to publications like i-D, V, POP and EXIT. He has also photographed advertising campaigns for clients such as Nike, Levi’s, Nokia.
Coinciding with the release of his first book HYBRIDS, over a period of 4 years he documented peculiar hybrid cultures around the planet, such as Snow Polo, Gay Rodeo, Underwater Striptease – see hybrids-project.com. He as also exhibited at Institute of Contemporary Art, London; Museum Centro Arti Visive Pescheria, Italy; Paul Smith’s ‘Space’ Gallery, Tokyo amongst other places.
Thymann’s most recent project - Project Pressure, a Glacier Atlas – was conceived during his extensive travels during his global assignments. The project has official collaborations with NASA and The World Glacier Monitoring Service. Project Pressure will be the first Glacier Atlas consisting of more than 500 images of the world’s retreating glaciers from every relevant continent on the planet. See project-pressure.org
