Artavazd Sureni Sargsyan (Armenian: Արտավազդ Սուրենի Սարգսյան); born 13 November 1975) is an Armenian financier, who was the CEO of Armbusiness Bank (currently AMIO Bank) from 2019 to 2023. Currently he is the Cofounder and Executive Director of AB Partners, a specialized financial, compliance and legal risks advisory company.

Biography

Artavazd Sargsyan was born on 13 November 1975 in Yerevan, Armenian SSR. He received his primary education at Yerevan School Nikol Aghbalyan No. 19. His father Surik Sargsyan received the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Armenian: փիլիսոփայական գիտությունների դոկտոր, պրոֆեսոր). His mother Armida Abaryan was a distinguished chemistry teacher at Nikol Aghbalyan school more than 50 years.

Sargsyan graduated from Armenian State Institute of Economy, Faculty of Finance and Banking, in 1997.

Career

Artavazd Sargsyan started his career at the Central Bank of Armenia, as a specialist in Financial Supervision Department, in 1998. Until 2007 he was promoted to the head of unit of credit institutions supervision. Since 2007 to 2019 Sargsyan was the Deputy Head of Financial Supervision Department at Central Bank of Armenia. From 2010 to 2019 Sargsyan was the CEO of Center for the promotion of economic education and research foundation. From 2017 to 2018 he was the CEO of SТАК Money Transfer. Sargsyan was the CEO of Armbusinessbank from 2019 to 2023. From 2023 Sargsyan leads AB Partners. From 2023 Sargsyan is the independent member of Executive Board at MOGO UCO.

Artavazd Sargsyan is specialized in financial monitoring, risk-based supervision, both central and corporate banking, including AML-Compliance, KYC, CDD, Mergers&Acquisition, Operations Management, Risk Management, Financial Forecasting, Bank Resolution, NPL Recovery, Crisis Management, Contingency Planning, Strategy Formulation, Project Management, Due Diligence, Big Data Management.
