Julian Gualtieri (born July 26, 1995) is a former professional basketball player, currently Vice President and Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley.

A native from the republic of San Marino (Italy), he retired from his basketball career at an early age. Julian joined Morgan Stanley after receiving his degree in finance from the Landon School of Business at Florida International University. According to his Morgan Stanley official profile,[1] Julian manages investments for a selected group of clients from both international and US markets, including entrepreneurs, professionals, institutions, and sports and entertainment investors.

Early life and basketball career

After growing up in San Marino (Italy), Julian started his youth career in Italy playing for Santarcangelo Angels Santarcangelo and Rinascita Basket Rimini. In 2011, with Rinascita Basket Rimini, he reached third place at Italy's highest youth competition italiani giovanili di pallacanestro Campionati Italiani Giovanili di Pallacanestro "Finali Nazionali."[2] Later that year, Julian moved to the United States, first joining Gulliver Preparatory School and the year after joining Miami Senior High School, a school also attended by former NBA stars Udonis Haslem and Carlos Arroyo.

In the 2013/2014 season, he signed a contract to play with the historic professional Italian club Fulgor Libertas Forlì in the Italian Serie A2. With the franchise, he collected a total of 23 games.[3]

After this Italian experience, Julian returned to the United States and joined the FIU Panthers in NCAA Division I (Conference USA) in Miami, Florida, for the 2014-2015 season.[4]

In the summer of 2015, Gualtieri joined the Serie B league with the Angels Santarcangelo for the 2015-2016 season.[5]

FIBA Europe All-Star Game

In 2011, he was selected for the FIBA Europe All-Star Game in Lithuania,[6] Europe's biggest basketball youth competition with the top 24 U18 players of the continent, playing against NBA talent such as Álex Abrines and Sergey Karasev.

In 2013, he was again selected for the FIBA Europe All-Star Game,[7] this time in Slovenia, where he scored 8 points with the Sprite white team, going head-to-head against current NBA stars Dario Šarić and Vasilije Micić.

National team achievements

In 2011, with the San Marino men's national basketball team, Julian helped the team win the silver medal at the U16 FIBA European Championship for Small Countries tournament. That same year, he also played at the U18 FIBA European Championship for Small Countries and won another silver medal.

In 2013, he won the gold medal at the U18 FIBA European Championship for Small Countries in Andorra, Spain, scoring 54 points in the final. He was named tournament MVP.[8]

Retirement and finance career

Gualtieri retired from professional basketball to pursue a career in finance.

He currently lives in Miami, Florida, and serves as Vice President at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management.
