  1. ^ Certain award groups do not simply award one winner. They recognize several different recipients, have runners-up, and have third place. Since this is a specific recognition and is different from losing an award, runner-up mentions are considered wins in this award tally. For simplification and to avoid errors, each award in this list has been presumed to have had a prior nomination.

The South African singer Tyla has received several awards and honorary accolade. Tyla was named the youngest African soloist to win a Grammy Award in 2024.[1] Her accolades include MTV Video Music Award,[2] BET Awards (2),[3] Basadi in Music Awards (3),[4] and Metro FM Music Award.[5]

Tyla started off covering pop songs before she joined the amapiano wave.[6] She released her debut single "Getting Late" in 2019 and was nominated for Best Music Video of the Year at the 28th annual South African Music Awards in 2022.[7][8] In 2023, she released "Been Thinking" which was nominated for Best Produced Music Video at the 29th annual South African Music Awards,[9] and she won the Best Female Artist award at the 9th annual African Entertainment Awards USA later that year.[10] She was also nominated for Best New Artist at the 2023 Soul Train Music Awards,[11] and Best African Music Act at the MOBO Awards 2023.[12]

Tyla's breakthrough single, "Water", taken off her debut self-titled studio album (2024) was the first recipient to win the inaugural Best African Music Performance at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards.[13] Tyla went on to win the most awards at the 2024 BET Awards, tying with American singers Usher and Victoria Monét at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California,[14] where she was named the Best New Artist,[15] and Best International Act.[16] In her native South Africa, Tyla won Song of the Year, International Achievement and Highest Airplay at the 3rd annual Basadi In Music Awards,[4] Best International Act at the 2024 Cultural and Creative Industry Awards,[17] and Most Stylish Performing Artist at the 2024 South African Style Awards.[18] With six nominations, Tyla led the 18th Metro FM Music Awards' nomination list,[19] and she was awarded the Global Icon Award.[5] Tyla's nominations including the Best New Artist and Best R&B Video at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards,[20] BET Award for Viewer's Choice,[21] Metro FM Music Award for Song of the Year,[22] and Brit Award for International Song.[23] Tyla was among the five chart toppers honoured by Billboard,[24] she received a Global Force Award at the inaugural Billboard R&B's No. 1s.[25]
