FireFox (talk · contribs) – Well, what can I say about FireFox (note the 2 capital "F"s)? Well, for you edit countitis sufferers, he's got over 3,000 edits and been here for 3 months. Most of this time has been spent fighting vandalism. He's a very active member of the Counter-vandalism unit, always on that revert button and often beats me (despite my having the real one) to the revert. He's also a highly civil and "nice" (for want of a better word) Wikipedian and could really do with (and will use) the powers bestowed unto him. I hope you can all look past "3 months" and give this well-deserved user a mop. --Celestianpower háblame 19:25, 27 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

My Co-nomination I was planning to nominate him as well but Celestianpower beat me into it ;). Just about what main nom said. One of the most active vandal fighters in Wikipedia and a very nice and civil user as well. If there is a case for speedy promote let him be it. --JAranda | watz sup 16:47, 31 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here: Thank you both. I accept. FireFox 17:17, 31 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  14. Support. One of the top vandal-fighters around, possibly the fastest non-admin one. I'm not concerned with the three-month term; some people are faster learners than others, and FireFox has proven that in these three months he has become as familiar with WP policies and customs as editors who have spent twice as long here. Oppose

  1. Weak Oppose Hasn't really contributed in writting articles(which is very important for me), and never been involved in a conflict for me to judge how he'll handle it. I don't think I'll make a difference, but had he had many oppose votes, I'd probably vote neutral to not influence the result. Fadix 03:28, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Oppose Can't understand why someone would see speedy deletes as a calling.--Silverback 17:05, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
"a calling"? Where do you see that? He just considers it to be a necessary part of the job, which it is. Owen× 17:16, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Neutral

  1. works too hard! Take a break sometimes. --Yodakii 01:53, 2 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    1. Can't help it, I'm addicted! FireFox (RFA) 17:26, 2 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Comments

(sighs)

"Everyone vote, We have a record almost broken (I think what is the record)"

This isn't a competition, this is us deciding whether this person understands important policies; understands what consensus is, etc. And trawling for votes is not going to get them easily. Please don't. Rob Church Talk 02:03, 5 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

sorry about saying that I have removed that. --Adam1213☺ Talk+|WWW 02:08, 5 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
A. Well, firstly the new block tool may become especially handy for my vandal-whacking efforts, instead of me having to ask an administrator everytime a vandal has reached his four warnings! Secondly, I would like to help out with speedy deletions and closing AfD's. I find myself as a friendly and approachable person who any user in need of an admin (or indeed anyone at all) can turn to.
2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
A. I am particularly pleased with my school's article, Maidstone Grammar School, which I brought up from a stub to a very respectable article. I am also pleased with my many Big Brother UK series 6 edits from a couple of months ago, and still patrol the Big Brother pages for errors and vandalism. Finally, I enjoy working on both Wikipedia:Pages needing translation into English and Wikipedia:Esperanza and feel that I do a lot of contributing to those two causes.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A.I don't think I have been involved in any conflicts yet. However if I were to have one, I would stay calm and before things get out of hand, take a short break from the computer and then use the proper channels (requests for mediation, requests for comment) to sort the situation out if necessary.
