John Walsh (1665 or 1666 – 13 March 1736) was a British music publisher and instrument maker.

Life[edit]

Not much is known about Walsh's early life. Scholars surmise from his name that he may have been of Irish ancestry.[1]

  • 24 June 1692 - "Warrant to swear and admit John Walsh musicall instrument maker in ordinary to his Majesty in place of John Shaw surrendered" (Majesty being William III). (Smith, "John Walsh, Music Publisher: The First Twenty-five Years", 1)
