Fidelis Zitterbart born April 10, 1845 father Fidelis Zitterbart, from Austria conducting orchestras. played violin at age nine composing in early teens studied in Europe upon return his father tore up his own compositions after seeing his son's work son Ralph taught music, harsh with 'incompetent' students. He was a perfectionist. died 1915 at age 70 musical journals called him a composer, teacher conductor and composer.

One of over 1300 original pieces by Zitterbach now housed at the University of Pittsburgh.

The collection consists of over 1,300 comostions, orchestral music, chamber music, songs, concertos, symphonies, sonatas works for pianos, violin and ensembles. His work w-hackneted harmonic combinations and wholesome musical forms. He did not tramp the beathen path, but rather delighted to be different, to revel in the reions o pure imagination unhamptered by the contentions which stifle the spirit and curb that arti artistic freedome and originality" from a program note from a 1935 concert.as performed
