Hi! I'm Angelique, a 19 year old college student in Wichita, Kansas, USA. I'm majoring in Political Science and minoring in Spanish. My main contribution to Wikipedia has been editing Riyu Kosaka, though I've helped out in a few other places as well.
Education

I graduated from Wichita High School East in 2005. While in high school, I was also involved in the International Baccalaureate program, graduating with the IB Diploma. My senior year, I was co-president of the school's Gay-straight alliance.
I am currently attending Wichita State University for my Bachelor's degree. Thanks to the IB program, I received a good amount of credit-by-examination totalling 26 credit hours before my first day of class. Because of that, I should be able to graduate by spring 2008, at which point I will hopefully move to New York City to be with friends and get involved in the political scene.

Because the IB program requires its students to study a foreign language, I took Spanish classes in high school. It was here that I realized I am freakishly good at languages. I have currently taken all the classes necessary for a minor in Spanish, and I hope to take all of the Japanese classes available at WSU before I graduate.
While I grew up in an apolitical household, since my involvement in my high school GSA I have taken up an interest in politics. I'm fairly liberal and generally vote for the Democratic party candidate in elections. I firmly believe that the personal is political, and I want to do what I can to make the world a better place. (Definitions of "a better place" may vary, of course.)
Outside of academia, I spend most of my time on the internet, either blogging on LiveJournal, chatting on AIM or Skype, or playing MapleStory. After nearly two years of playing, I'm a mere 4x Cleric on Scania.
Nerding out

Sometimes I like to hit the arcade for some DDR or Pump. I have been playing the former for around four years, and can pass most 8-foot and some easy 9-foot songs. My favorite mix thus far is SuperNOVA, followed by DDRMAX2, followed by EXTREME. At home I play Konamix or 5th Mix, because I'm extravagant enough to buy a Cobalt Flux but too stingy to go out and buy a PS2.
Yes, I do have a few actual friends.
Music

Music is an integral part of my life. I tend to like a wide variety of genres -- my top three artists, for example, are System of a Down, The Dresden Dolls, and Riyu Kosaka (along with her band, BeForU -- but that doesn't fit into a top three). Strangely enough, I tend to favor late-90's alternative rock such as The Goo Goo Dolls, Third Eye Blind, and The Smashing Pumpkins, among other groups and artists. I like a few more modern groups such as Franz Ferdinand and The Killers, as well as the Japanese rock bands Bump of Chicken and Asian Kung-Fu Generation. I listen to a decent amount of trance and techno as well, particularly dj TAKA, TaQ, and DJ Sharpnel.
Employment
[edit]My first job was at a Wendy's the summer after I graduated high school. While that was not one of my favorite experiences, I went on to have other, more rewarding employment opportunities. I spent most of 2006 working for my university's Intensive English Language Center as a conversation leader, talking to students in the process of learning English as a second language. Due to scheduling conflicts, I am not currently working there, but I hope to go back once I find a suitable place in my schedule.
Around the same time that I started my job at the IELC, I also began working at my former middle school as an AVID tutor. The AVID program in my school district is still relatively new, but it seems to be taking off. I have seen it do great things for my students, the first class of which will be graduating the 8th grade in a few months. This job has its difficult moments, but I find it very rewarding.
Once I graduate and need to get a "real job," I would like to work for some sort of political organization, particularly a GLBT rights advocacy group or something similar.
