[edit]The national team finished top of their World Cup qualification group, ensuring that they would qualify for their fourth appearance at the final tournament, and their first since 2002.

[edit]After staying unbeaten in the first half of their qualification campaign, Denmark would go on to clinch qualification on 10 October 2009, with a 1–0 win against Sweden.
