Kathryn Brown is an art critic and historian in the Department of Language and Culture Studies, Tilburg University, the Netherlands. Educated at Seymour College, Adelaide, South Australia and a Rhodes Scholar, Dr Brown holds a D.Phil in nineteenth century French literature from Oxford University and a PhD in nineteenth century French art history from the University of London. She was previously a solicitor in the City of London and partner of Paul Hastings, Janofsky and Walker, LLP. Her current research interests include nineteenth century French painting and literature, the tradition of "artists' books" and contemporary art.
