Xhurricanex: You're confusing BCS Title Game (also called the national championship game) with a BCS bowl. In 2004, USC played Michigan in a BCS bowl. IT WAS NOT THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. You're incorrectly labeling Pete Carroll's college career. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Xhurricanex (talk • contribs) 17:11, 12 January 2010 (UTC) |

Response: It was not the BCS national championship game, no, but USC was awarded the AP national championship. I referenced the corresponding tables of three other coaches with split titles (Dennis Erickson and Don James in 1991; Nick Saban in 2003), and all are provided the orange shading consistent with the national championship. To be consistent for this condition, Pete Carroll's 2003 line should be orange. If there were separate shades for BCS / Split / AP, then I would agree that they should be different colors.
