How I chose my username

Well, it's actually quite simple. I live in Southern California, and the term "SoCal" is just another way of referring to that region. In addition, I am a huge fan of the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles; my strong loyalty to that team is reflected by the "SuperEagle" portion of my username.
And so, "SoCal" + "SuperEagle" == "SoCalSuperEagle".

My activities on Wikipedia

Most of my time at Wikipedia is currently devoted to fighting against both vandalism and spam. In the process, I help patrol new articles, as well as the user creation log.

Useful resources in the fight against vandalism

Reverting unconstructive edits is just one aspect of the battle against vandalism. For anyone who wants to help in the fight against vandalism on Wikipedia, I highly recommend monitoring the following three pages on a regular basis in addition to taking advantage of the watchlist feature:

• Special:Log/newusers -- That is the user creation log. Some vandals will create usernames that are blatantly downright offensive and/or disruptive (of course, some offensive usernames may also be created by good-faith users who may simply be unaware of the username policy details). In addition, a username that clearly appears to be nonsense may be a possible sign of trouble. Possible spam/promotional usernames can also be identified at that page.

• Special:NewPages -- That is the new page log. Some users will try to create nonsense pages, obvious test pages, or even stuff that is a blatant hoax or is simply ridiculous. Unfortunately, there are also a few users who may attempt to create attack pages, which are basically articles whose sole purpose is to disparage or threaten other people or entities.

• Special:AbuseLog -- That is the edit filter log (also known as the abuse log). This log can be used to determine if a particular vandal attempts to ignore or defy a final warning and triggers one or more filters in the attempt. It can also provide confirming evidence as to whether a particular username is in fact a promotional username that needs to be blocked immediately. Although the edit filters won't catch some instances of vandalism, I have found that the edit filter log can still be a very useful tool in the fight against vandalism for anyone who is interested in monitoring recent changes, but is unable to take advantage of the Huggle program.

My custom user warning templates

Custom template messages for warning creators of attack pages

The following custom warnings are intended to be issued upon discovery of a new attack page in the new pages log. The creation of such a page constitutes an egregious offense that is strictly prohibited by Wikipedia. I often feel that the existing warning templates regarding the creation of inappropriate pages are a bit too generic when I issue warnings to page creators who are caught introducing attack pages.

Due to the egregious nature of attack page creations in general, I have chosen not to create custom level 1 and level 2 templates for warning attack page creators.

• uw-nap4im (Level 4im warning for attack page creation)

The following custom speedy deletion notification templates are intended to be used when the issuance of a level 4/4im warning is also deemed necessary for the creation of an attack page.

• db-attack4im-notice (formerly uw-grossattack) (CSD G10 speedy deletion notification + level 4im warning)

The following custom speedy deletion notification template is intended to be used when a page creator will be (or has been) reported at AIV.

Custom template messages for warning creators of other types of inappropriate pages

The following custom speedy deletion notification templates are intended to be used when the issuance of a level 3/4/4im warning is also deemed necessary for the creation of a page that constitutes pure vandalism.

• db-vandalism4-notice (CSD G3 speedy deletion notification + level 4 warning)

The following single-issue custom warning template is intended to be issued to new users who repeatedly trigger the edit filter with several disruptive editing attempts within a short period of time.
