About me

I was born in Mountain View, California on October 10, 1985. Since my parents are from Taiwan, I am an Asian American. I can speak Mandarin, although I cannot understand Chinese characters very well!

Education and work

Although I was born slightly autistic, I was able to enter regular education through my efforts. I attended Egan Junior High School from 1998 to 2000 and graduated from Los Altos High School in 2004. In August 2009, I finished my bachelor's degree in Engineering Science at the University of California, Berkeley. In October 2010, I obtained my master's degree in financial analysis from Saint Mary's College of California.

I am currently software regression engineer at Cisco Systems.

Interests

I am interested in many things, and you may see me editing articles related to them!

Academia

Anything related to science or mathematics in general usually interests me, but chemistry, physics, astronomy, geology, cryptography, computer science, computer programming and number theory are among my favorite subjects. I know a few programming languages, namely Visual Basic, Java, JavaScript, MATLAB, R, Scheme and various forms of TI-BASIC.

Entertainment

I listen to many types of music, including techno, trance, classical, choral, video game music and some New Age, especially nature music. One of my favorite music companies is Orange Tree Productions.

I also like watching action films like Armageddon, Pearl Harbor and Independence Day. Science-oriented television shows (such as MythBusters and Cosmos) and docudramas like Supervolcano are also among my favorites.

Hobbies

Like many other Generation Y folks, I love playing video and computer games in my free time. I was a player moderator on the online game RuneScape from June 2004 to October 2007. My other hobbies also include high-powered lasers, model rocketry, consumer fireworks and pyrotechnics in general.

Other

As a nature lover, I frequently hike in the mountains and forests. I like the American deserts as well, provided that the weather is not too hot! My family enjoys going to national and state parks.

Wikipedia stuff

I first came across Wikipedia while looking for information on QuakeC. Admittedly, I vandalized the article out of curiosity, but since I did not know how to revert my own edit at the time, I decided to make the article even better!

From that time onwards, I have been creating and improving many articles, as well as reverting vandalism. Since I believed knowledge should be free, I decided to become a regular contributor. I initially edited under two "anonymous" IPs before I registered on December 14, 2002. About three years later, I was promoted to an administrator on September 21, 2005! I will continue to improve Wikipedia as appropriate.
