Also known as Amir, [[British American Football Referees' Association|BAFRA]] member #593, and the founder of a nation of the [http://www.nswiki.net/index.php?title=Bettia same name] with a population of over nine billion (which was named after my wife 'cos I'm sweet like that), I'm a sporadically active user on Wikipedia who was made an administrator at the [[Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Bettia 2|second time of asking]]. I'm the grand old age of 33 (which officially makes me a [[WP:GEEZER|geezer]]), am married with no children (sigh), and will be celebrating my silk (12th) [[wedding anniversary]] in August 2009. |

I'm an Englishman who has studied and lived in [[Cardiff]] since 1994, although in that time I've only picked up a mere smattering of the [[Welsh language|local language]]. I converted to [[Islam]] in 1997 – before then I was something of a floating agnostic from an [[Anglican]] background. I support [[Bristol Rovers F.C.]] and [[Andover F.C.]] but I take a keen interest in most sports, so much so that in 2008 I became an American football official (my preferred position is [[American_football_official#Umpire|Umpire]] – it's where the '''real''' men officiate!). I am now a member of the Welsh cabal refereeing games most weekends of the year in the [[British American Football League|BAFL]] and [[British Universities American Football League|BUAFL]]. |

My duties and areas of work on Wikipedia are wide and varied, usually according to what mood I'm in. On the article-building front, I have been primarily active on the sports front. With some help from others, I managed to get Andover F.C. up to Good Article standard. I have also created and expanded a number of articles relating to the American football scene here in the UK, including the [[List of American football teams in the United Kingdom]], which took a hell of a lot of work. I have also made a number of contributions to [[Cardiff]] and [[Radyr]] and the hope that these too can be raised up to at least GA-standard. |

I am an member of a number of Wikiprojects and am particularly active in [[WP:FOOTY|Wikiproject Football]], where I participate in AfD discussions and the occasional bit of caretaking. I sometimes indulge in a spot of vandal-patrolling (hence the pic of Wikipe-tan and her trusty mop) and occasionally give a [[WP:3O|third opinion]]. As an administrator, I often find myself trying to clear the always-crowded list of [[CAT:CSD|candidates for speedy deletion]]. |
