The Broken Pitcher is the artwork of French artist William-Adolphe Bouguereau.[1]The painting was completed in 1891.[1]It was the first artwork of William-Adolphe Bouguereau when he arrived in California.[2] The painting is the symbol of the loss of virginity.[3] In this picture of a young girl in a white dress, she sits beside the broken pitcher.[1] This work is in the Masterworks of European Painting in the California Palace of the Legion of Honor (1999).[1]
