The Maine

The Maine is an American pop punk band from Tempe, Arizona.

History

Pat Kirch, Garrett Nickelsen, and Ryan were in bands all throughout high school including The Kerosene Kids and The Seasons Company. Kennedy used to sing for a band called Last Call For Camden. Once he left the band, they got a new singer and switched around members and changed their name to The Summer Set. The Maine was formed in 2007 by Pat Kirch, Ryan Osterman, Alex Ross, Garrett Daniel Nickelsen, and John Cornelius O'Callaghan V while most of the band's members were still attending high school.[1] John was asked to join the band by Pat's brother, Tim Kirch. They signed to Fearless Records that same year, who issued their debut EP, The Way We Talk.[2][3][4][5][6] The record hit #45 on the U.S. Billboard Top Independent Albums chart and #10 on the Heatseekers chart in 2008.[7] The group has played with bands such as Brighten, Paramore, Good Charlotte, Boys like Girls, Metro Station, All Time Low, The Academy Is..., Bayside, This Providence,[8] Just Surrender, Lorene Drive,[9] Powerspace, Family Force 5,Mayday Parade, Danger:Radio, The Secret Handshake, Ivoryline, Forever The Sickest Kids, Scenes and Sirens, The Cab, Every Avenue

The Maine was signed to perform on the Vans Warped Tour 2008 on the Smartpunk stage. They played from June 20 – July 3.

They spent the summer of 2008 as the opening band on the Soundtrack of Your Summer, alongside co-headliners Boys Like Girls and Good Charlotte, and Metro Station. The first tour date began on July 8th in Chicago, IL.

The band will spend from September 13 to September 21 on tour with The Academy Is... and We The Kings in the UK.

They will be going on tour with All Time Low, Mayday Parade, and Every Avenue in Fall 2008 from October 9, starting in Norfolk, Virginia through November 29, ending in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The tour is called "The Compromising of Integrity, Morality and Principles in Exchange for Money".

The band's debut full-length album, Can't Stop, Won't Stop was produced by Matt Squire (Boys Like Girls, Panic At the Disco) and was released on Tuesday, July 8, 2008[10].[9]

The Maine recorded a indie-pop version of Akon's hit song, I Wanna Love You, for release on the Punk Goes Crunk album.

The band got their name (The Maine) from a song called "The Coast of Maine", by a band called Ivory, who The Maine collectively enjoy.

Their song "Everything I Ask For" is played throughout the trailer to Lindsay Lohan's featured film "Labor Pains."  ???

The Maine's song "The Way We Talk" is featured on the 2008 Vans Warped Tour Compilation CD.

"Everything I Ask For" was featured on Making The Band Season 4 on September 30, 2008 and "Girls Do What They Want" was featured on The Hills on October 13, 2008. "We All Roll Along" was on The Hills November 10, 2008.
