you guys make mistake.....
[edit]I cannot understand you guys have put RS and ISAF in the same phase and that phase is called only "ISAF phase". I think we should make those separate again, as the old edition did. 웬디러비 (talk) 10:56, 21 September 2019 (UTC)
Looks like it still isn't fixed... even years after your request... ISAF and RS are clearly 2 different things ISAF ended in 2014, with its main mission being developed through UN Security Resolution 1386. It was to help build up the ANDSF, and safeguard burgeoning Afghan institutions. In particular it helped curb the Taliban insurgency. This is a period of time where Western forces played a major role (at its peak 130,000 manpower) RS started immediately after this, and was a Train, Advise, Assist program.. At that point the Western forces were playing a minor role in Afghanistan (at its peak 17,000 manpower). This Afghan Government took control of its own security.
Clearly they have little interest in this accuracy.

Error
[edit]@Tartan357: I think we should remove the reference to the Taliban phase. If such phase evolves into a civil war, a new page should be created, called War in Afghanistan (2021-present).-Karma1998 (talk) 18:25, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
Please elaborate
[edit]@XavierGreen: please elaborate as to why my edits constitute vandalism.-Karma1998 (talk)
- You reverted edits without any explaination in your edit notes and without providing any source whatsoever to back up your edits. Sources uniformly state that the conflict is still ongoing and that anti-Taliban forces are concentrating in the Panjshir valley. See [[1]].XavierGreen (talk) 19:02, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
- @XavierGreen: the conflict is indeed continuing in Panjshir. But that is not part of this phase of the war, which specifically involved NATO and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan vs the Taliban. A new page has been created for the Panjshir conflict.--Karma1998 (talk) 12:46, 20 August 2021 (UTC)

Why all photos in template are of one side? not a single photo of Taliban side?
[edit]Why all photos in template are of one side? not a single photo of Taliban side? I guess in war template there should be atleast 1 or 2 photos of Taliban side or their recent takeover. 202.47.44.206 (talk) 09:49, 24 August 2021 (UTC)
- Agree, the picture is completely non-NPOV, either we include pictures of all sides or we delete it altogether. Polmas (talk) 19:02, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
No victory
[edit]I'm suggesting that "Taliban victory" should be changed to "Peace agreement".
The result of this war is not a victory but a peace agreement. All parties won (achieved what they wanted to achieve). To say the Taliban won this war is something like saying that a store owner selling a TV wins (money) and the customer buying that TV loses (money). Soon an Afghan government will be established in which all parties will be sitting and working together, and they'll enjoy the long awaited peace that they've been craving. This is what everyone wanted since late 2001.--39.41.34.115 (talk) 20:50, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
- As per Wikipedia's guidelines, edits are based on verifiable/reliable sources, which are describing the end of the war as a Taliban victory. This has already been discussed at length at the main article's talk page and consensus has been reached on the issue. EkoGraf (talk) 07:30, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
Northern Alliance map
[edit]Hi @Weaveravel:, I was thinking about the Northern Alliance map, I was thinking that it might be better than nothing. Though I guess your concerns might be that it would mislead readers, which I think might not be an issue, so I think maybe we could discuss it, thanks. Halo FC (talk) 19:23, 11 September 2021 (UTC)
@Halo FC: Hello. Yeah I would say it definitely is misleading for that article. However, for United States invasion of Afghanistan it's perfect, since that took place in 2001 and deals with the situation that the map represents. Since the 2001-2021 War was lengthy (20 years) it's most likely no map can ever be properly representative. Indeed articles like Vietnam War and Iraq War have never had maps either. --WR 20:15, 11 September 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, so, sorry, I was thinking that its alright as I don't think that anyone would mistake it that the US only controlled the red area or the blue area for much of the war, thanks Halo FC (talk) 21:23, 11 September 2021 (UTC)
Indian support to US invasion of Afghanistan
[edit]India had started to conduct supply operations to Panjshir in Afghanistan. Arms, ammunition and aircraft were provided to the Northern Alliance. India also provided logistical support to Ahmad Shah Massoud. The leader of the Alliance had visited India on multiple occasions to fine-tune strategies to take on the Taliban. During the US invasion of Afghanistan, Indian government allowed its military facilities to be used for strikes against Afghanistan and provided intelligence information on training camps of Islamic militants in Afghanistan. 122.161.49.73 (talk) 14:25, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
