Purpose

[edit]

I originally created this template as a means of marking lists for which notability is the selection criteria. Per WP:SAL, this is currently the first of the "common selection criteria", which specifies that entries must "meets the notability criteria" to be included in a list. Users then added the template to discussion pages on a number of stand-alone lists, presumably because they intended for notability to be the selection criteria for entries on those lists.

The text of the template has since been changed, to refer more generically to entries on the list having to meet some selection criteria or other, but not specifying what. This re-writing is understandable given the name of the template, and it's my fault for having given it too general a name. However, it means that the template is no longer useful for its original purpose of marking lists that have notability as their selection criteria for entries.

I propose that we make a new, better-named template for marking lists that have notability as their selection criteria for entries, leaving this template as it is. We can then revisit the lists that use the existing template, and consider changing them to the new template if they have notability as their selection criteria.  Done, see {{List entries are all notable}}. @Ryan Paddy: if you remember which lists need that, feel free to update their talk pages. — hike395 (talk) 13:00, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Missing documentation

[edit]

Needs doc. Uses talk page styling, so does this go on talk pages etc. – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 10:15, 10 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
