Seal link
[edit]The phrase "President of the United States" always appears earlier within the sidebar. The phrase also appears, linked, a third time shortly after the sidebar, in the intro. So linking the seal results in repetitive text and links for screen readers and search engines. The seal conveys the same essential information as the earlier phrase, so it's a decorative image, and MOS:PDI applies. Leaving the seal unlinked would remove some of the redundancy. Maybe the first text occurrence of the phrase could be linked, but I doubt whether that link would be helpful enough to justify the MOS:DUPLINK. Matt Fitzpatrick (talk) 10:02, 24 May 2018 (UTC)
- Makes total sense. Done — JFG talk 07:15, 25 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Matt Fitzpatrick: See also my suggestion to remove the link on signatures, in the generic {{Sidebar person}} template. — JFG talk 07:22, 25 May 2018 (UTC)
Potential link to category of controversies
[edit]I first asked this over at [[Template_talk:Infobox_officeholder#Potential_link_to_category_of_controversies], but this might be a better template. Has there ever been any discussion here or elsewhere regarding inclusion of a link to categories containing controversies around officeholders? In general I think something (maybe not a link to the category) might be useful. Looking at some specific examples:
- Donald Trump -> Category:Trump administration controversies
- Barack Obama -> Category:Obama administration controversies
If anyone knows of a better place to ask this question that'd be great too! ·addshore· talk to me! 08:47, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
