Breaks printable layout
[edit]There were a handful of pages that used template:reflist wrapped into a scroll box - Looked great, so we took the code and created template:scrollref. However, it was recently pointed out that the use of the scroll box in that instance blocks the printable layout from showing the entirety of the scroll box's content. Seems like the problem would be applicable to any use of template:scroll box. Is there any way to prevent this template from running when the string "printable" appears in the URL, or some cleaner way to do it? Should it be done here, or on every template/instance of code that calls this, on a case-by-case basis? MrZaiustalk 05:44, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
- We already have a print style sheet (http://wiki.riteme.site/skins-1.5/common/commonPrint.css). Why can't we just turn off scrolling for print? Superm401 - Talk 04:32, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
Translation needed, cleanup of documentation
[edit]This page needs to be translated from the Italian and to have its docs reformatted appropriately. Willing to help, but I don't speak the language. MrZaiustalk 06:21, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

Major problems
[edit]This template should not be used in mainspace for references. A template referencing this template was authored by another fellow and myself, but it was deleted because it rendered any and all obscured text inaccessible to readers of printed articles and, potentially, disabled users using screenreaders and the like. See Wikipedia:Templates_for_deletion/Log/2007_June_11#Template:Scrollref and the linked Village Pump discussion. If anyone knows how off the top of their heads, please rig this template to not render if introduced in mainspace until the aforementioned problems can be fixed. The only appropriate use of this template at present is sandboxed or in a handful of odd little clips in talk pages. MrZaiustalk 15:36, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
Rounded corners
[edit]Note that, per my above comment about accessibility, this template should not be used in mainspace at all. The rounded corners are neither here nor there, and could be made optional if anyone cares - That's just a stylistic matter that should be left up to the editor, since this would likely only be used on talk and user pages. MrZaiustalk 20:00, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
- Then once people stop using the template in articles, I'll stop removing the rounded corners. Right now, though, it is being added to new articles every day – Gurch 16:37, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
- Main space usage has been blocked now, and the template seems to have been removed from all but a handful of talk, portal, and image pages. Note that I don't really care about the rounded corners, but if someone does, it might make more sense to make it optional than not. MrZaiustalk 14:04, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
Is it that hard to fix?
[edit]This seems to be a much better template than the long ref-lists in some articles. Is it really that hard to fix for printing?--Nepaheshgar (talk) 15:26, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
- I agree, it would make large articles much easier to scroll through. Brightgalrs (/braɪtˈɡæl.ərˌɛs/)[1] 11:32, 15 August 2011 (UTC)
