[edit]

I have uploaded a new version of File:Small pair of blue scissors.jpg, this template's image, to Commons. (See File:Small pair of blue scissors.png, edited for background transparency and with closer cropping.) The sandbox version of the page uses the replacement image, allowing it to display transparently in situations where it would be placed against non-white backgrounds. e.g.:

Current template: scissors Running with scissors is too dangerous for Wikipedia!
Sandbox: scissors Running with scissors is a very silly thing to do!

Please update {{Scissors}} from {{Scissors/sandbox}}. -- FeRDNYC (talk) 01:57, 25 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not done however @FeRDNYC: this page has been unprotected and you may edit it directly now. — xaosflux Talk 02:13, 25 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Xaosflux: Thanks, done! (I should really just apply for template-editor anyway, at this point.) -- FeRDNYC (talk) 03:50, 25 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

What's up with this template, anyway?

[edit]

I mean, in what instances is it useful? Where do I put it, and when? Woshiyiweizhongguoren (🇨🇳) 11:35, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Use it as you would facepalm, it's intended as a humorous reminder to a colleague who has been a bit silly. I originally created it when I was learning how templates worked, it proved to be quite popular and so was kept. WCMemail 12:58, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Woshiyiweizhongguoren: It's definitely best understood in the context of the full list at Template:Done/See also, and hardly the weirdest entry on that list.

@FeRDNYC: How about:  CheckUser is not magic pixie dust? Woshiyiweizhongguoren (🇨🇳) 14:13, 30 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Woshiyiweizhongguoren: Another good one. The really impressive thing is how much use editors get from Pixiedust and especially Megaphoneduck (though not its ultimate form) — even with the Template namespace excluded, to avoid counting all of the documentation transclusions. {{Scissors}}? Not so much. -- FeRDNYC (talk) 00:15, 1 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
