Progress update

[edit]

I've worked my way through all the indef protected pages, and have done the "A"s in Category:Wikipedia_semi-protected_pages. --John Vandenberg (chat) 13:04, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Problem

[edit]

This template is wrongly categorizing a number of articles by being mass added to BLPs protected with an expiry but still adding them to Category:Wikipedia indefinitely semi-protected pages. On other templates this is prevented by using 'expiry=' but with this template even you do this it still adds pages to this category. Camaron · Christopher · talk 18:18, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This template still seems to be categorising articles with a protection expiry, even if specified in the template, into Category:Wikipedia indefinitely semi-protected biographies of living people rather than Category:Wikipedia temporarily semi-protected biographies of living people. In fact the only page in the latter category is one which has been indefinitely protected! Does anyone know what is causing this? Camaron · Christopher · talk 16:52, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

checkY Fixed, thank you for bringing this to our attention. ("ifexist" looks for pages, "if" looks at the parameter) –xenotalk 18:22, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Rationale

[edit]

In the mouse-over, this template states that it was added "to prevent libelous additions", however, in the text it says it says that it was added "to prevent Biographies of living persons violations". These two aren't exactly the same thing, since WP:BLP covers more than libel. Any thoughts? Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 02:50, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Template for both semi and full protection

[edit]

I've created a template which can be used for both semi and full protection. Would someone please check the code and either let me know if it's ok. If so feel free to move it to {{Pp-blp}}, or I'll do that myself. Also if people have any opinions on whether the template should have separate categories for indef and temp protection or whether these can be merged like with the other protection templates. Proposal to convert this template to Lua

[edit]

The protection banner refers to the Biographies of living persons policy as "..biographies of living people." Please change this for consistency. Heyaaaaalol (talk) 06:25, 23 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done It says "Wikipedia's policy on the biographies of living people". That's correct as it's referring to the policy by a descriptive phrase, not a formal title. * Pppery * it has begun... 18:18, 25 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
