Presently, the template stands thus:

542 Ma - Phanerozoic eon - Present
Preceded by Proterozoic eon	542 Ma - Paleozoic era - 251 Ma						251 Ma - Mesozoic era - 65 Ma			65 Ma - Cenozoic era - Present
Preceded by Proterozoic eon	Cambrian	Ordovician	Silurian	Devonian	Carboniferous	Permian	Triassic	Jurassic	Cretaceous	Paleogene	Neogene	Quaternary

But wouldn't it be better (more logical) as follows?

Preceded by Proterozoic eon	542 Ma - Phanerozoic eon - Present
	542 Ma - Paleozoic era - 251 Ma						251 Ma - Mesozoic era - 65 Ma			65 Ma - Cenozoic era - Present
	Cambrian	Ordovician	Silurian	Devonian	Carboniferous	Permian	Triassic	Jurassic	Cretaceous	Paleogene	Neogene	Quaternary

Quaternary, Pre-Cambrian & Tertiary

Pre-Cambrian	Cambrian	Ordovician	Silurian	Devonian	Carboniferous	Permian	Triassic	Jurassic	Cretaceous	Tertiary	Quaternary

Would this be better? This is like the Proterozoic eon, the Archean eon & the Hadean eon are just in one period in an eon. & the whole of the Tectonic plate movements is the Phanerozoic eon! Talker26 (talk•contribs) 02:47, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Uh, this makes the Precambrian appear as part of the Phanerozoic eon, which it is not. The Precambrian refers to anything before the Phanerozoic. Am I confused, or are you? --Gro-Tsen (talk) 00:04, 24 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
