Parameters

[edit]

Does this template have any parameters? Such as "class" or "importance" or "geographical area"? --Bejnar (talk) 06:04, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not yet, but I think it should have. Please discuss at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Protected areas. --Elekhh (talk) 14:24, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I selected, for the first go-around, Mount McKinley and the Amphitheatrum Flavium (Coliseum). My reasoning is to give examples of natural and historical protection. Mount McKinley is just plain beautiful. The Flavian Amphitheater is instantly identifiable and is a very early example of historic preservation (by Pope Benedict XIV in 1749). — Eoghanacht talk 15:30, 31 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It seems that the two articles mentioned above do not have this template on them. Is that the way it should be? Are there criteria for when to use it and when to not? --Bejnar (talk) 06:04, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The photos have been used for almost 4 years. It has since been somewhat clarified, i believe, that "Protected areas" refer to natural, environmental areas, not buildings or other historic sites that are "protected" but not natural. I think the amphitheatre one might not properly be a protected area of the environmental type. This perhaps for discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Protected areas, which is watched by more people. doncram (talk) 18:49, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Agree, and per WP:BOLD I removed the amphitheater. The image used for illustrating the natural site could be also discussed. --Elekhh (talk) 14:24, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
