Why are all the team icons aligning left on the Grand Final pages?

Add a section for 'favourite' or 'odds'

[edit]

The Super Bowl template features an data point for the favourite before the game. This would be beneficial for the AFL game template.Thejoebloggsblog (talk) 02:05, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Template cleanup/fixes

[edit]

Someone reported dark-mode issues with this template over at mw:Reading/Web/Accessibility_for_reading/Reporting/wiki.riteme.site#Infobox_Australian_rules_football_match_dark_mode_error, and I can confirm there are issues with invisible text. But the reasons for them are... a bit weird.

  1. Ever since it was first created in 2012, this template has always had the large home/away subtable styled background:#oc3f8f;. And in all that time, #0c3f8f has never been a valid HTML color, so it's always been ignored. (Note that the first character is o, the first letter in 'orange' — NOT 0. I'm not sure if the background was supposed to be #0c3f8f (which would be this color:      ) or if it was never meant to be set at all, but in dark mode setting background color without setting foreground color breaks things. Since the background color has always been ignored, we're probably safe to just remove it.
  2. The template documentation claims that it takes |home_colours= and |away_colours= parameters... but there is NO support anywhere in the actual code for them. So, even in light mode those don't work; if they are expected to be supported it'd be helpful to know what the template is supposed to do with those values when they're set.

For the moment I'm just going to remove the background:#oc3f8f; so it no longer accidentally forces the text in that part of the infobox to become dark-on-dark in dark mode. I'll also add color: black; to a bunch of table cells that are styled with background:#E0E6EB; (even though that's a light color, so the dark-mode CSS will kick in and automatically set a dark text color to match) — that should solve most of the immediate dark-mode issues, without affecting light-mode significantly. I'll also add color: black; to a bunch of table cells that are styled with background:#E0E6EB; In the end I didn't even bother with that, because the dark-mode styles for infobox content forcibly override most of that stuff anyway. So it was going to be ignored no matter what I did. Anyway, fixes are now live, feel free to ping me with any issues, or revert if necessary. FeRDNYC (talk) 06:40, 9 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
