@Cplakidas: I was unable to add for than one author when citing this template. Same goes for the online version template.[1] Have you by any chance encountered the same problem? - LouisAragon (talk) 22:22, 2 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi LouisAragon, which parameters did you use? Currently the template allows only up to two authors (the second one with first2 = and last2 =). I can add an option for additional authors, but had never encountered a use case for this. Constantine 09:14, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Cplakidas: It doesn't happen often, but some entries do cite three authors. Such as the "Erevan"[2] and the "Calendars"[3] entries. I was unable to add the template to articles where such entries are cited. - LouisAragon (talk) 13:18, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@LouisAragon:, OK, added the necessary parameters for up to four authors. Thanks for pointing this out! Constantine 14:08, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Cplakidas: Could you try it for the Erevan entry listed here, and see if it works? Still getting an error it seems. - LouisAragon (talk) 15:56, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Cplakidas seems that's fixed now. Btw, I noticed some entries cite more than one fascicle, including this one ("fasc. 6-7").[4] Would you suggest just omitting it from the template when encountering such an entry? - LouisAragon (talk) 20:37, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@LouisAragon: that's not necessary, fascicle=6-7 should work just fine. Cheers, Constantine 20:40, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Aight, thought so! Many thanks. - LouisAragon (talk) 20:44, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Location for online edition

[edit]

Hi Constantine,

Can you please remove/make optional the location parameter from the online version? Thanks. AhmadLX-(Wikiposta) 19:35, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sure AhmadLX, I've removed it, but I was following Iranica's own guide here. Constantine 19:54, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Constantine. Maybe you can make it optional then? (like a boolean maybe). AhmadLX-(Wikiposta) 20:34, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

unusable?

How do I type the ae ligature so that I actually use this template? (Is it really a good idea to obfuscate referencing even further by using characters in referencing template names that most people don't have on their keyboards?) -- Mikeblas (talk) 00:46, 6 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Mikeblas: no need to be dramatic: Template:Encyclopaedia Iranica redirects here. Constantine 21:53, 6 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Just discovered this template - very useful: many thanks to its creator! Just a minor query. Is there a way to switch off the link to Ehsan Yarshater? If you’re citing multiple Encyclopædia Iranica topics in an article you can end up with WP:OVERLINK. Thanks. DeCausa (talk) 10:29, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Does overriding that default author with explicit |first=Ehshan|last=Yarshater parameters work? -- Mikeblas (talk) 20:49, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
well, it’s the default editor rather than author. I tried adding in |editor-first1=Ehsan|editor-last1=Yarshater and that doesn’t seem to make any difference. Looks like it would need something embedding in the template to switch it on and off (which is definitely outside my competence to envisage) @Cplakidas: do you know?
