Gen or GEN?

It doesn't seem consistent whether "Gen" or GEN" is used for "General". Is there some subtle distinction between the two? St Anselm (talk) 16:35, 25 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that too, and the same question occurred to me. General (United States) provides an explanation (sort of):

[General] is abbreviated as GEN in the Army and Gen in the Marine Corps, Air Force, and Space Force.
