Hello Admins,

An SVG version of the new Iraqi flag adopted yesterday is at Image:Flag of Iraq 2008.svg. Could someone update this page? Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hoshie (talkcontribs) 08:42, 23 January 2008

Iraqi Flag

[edit]

Could someone fix the image links? First the 2004 version should point to Image:Flag of Iraq 2004-2008.svg. Second the basic flag images should point to Image:Flag of Iraq.svg instead of current Image:One_Year_Flag_of_Iraq.PNG. --Jhattara (Talk · Contrib) 10:52, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why was a 2008 variant added for an image nominated for deletion on Commons? — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 16:52, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think it was nominated because someone thought that the color of the inscription should be black instead of green. Apart from that I think it should stay there, but shouldn't be added as a variant in here until the flag changes again. --Jhattara (Talk · Contrib) 07:36, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the explanation, and I agree with you. None of the other ~1000 flag templates use a variant for the current flag, as a "pre-emptive measure" against future flag change. (For example, there is no 1960 variant for the USA 50 star flag just in case a 51st star is added someday.) — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 16:37, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Urgent edit request, 23 May 2016

[edit]

This template is currently generating a duplicate argument error, causing the same error to appear in the 139 templates which transclude this one. Each of these templates in turn causes the same error on every page transcluding it, swamping the error-tracking category with tens of thousands of pages. Could someone please remove the offending line | link alias-naval = Iraqi Navy (it doesn't matter which one, as long as it appears once, and once only). --NSH002 (talk) 08:52, 23 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The non-military flags aliases should be changed to:
alias = Iraq
flag alias = Flag of Iraq.svg
flag alias-1921 = Flag of the Arab Federation.svg
flag alias-1924 = Flag of Iraq (1924–1959).svg
flag alias-1958 = Flag of the Arab Federation.svg
flag alias-1959 = Flag of Iraq (1959–1963).svg
flag alias-1963 = Flag of Iraq (1963–1991); Flag of Syria (1963–1972).svg
flag alias-1991 = Flag of Iraq (1991–2004).svg
flag alias-2004 = Flag of Iraq (2004–2008).svg

To include missing historical variants and fix the link to the 1924 flag as it is currently broken!. It also removes the WFB flags, these flags are just based on the shades used in pictures in different editions of the CIA World Factbook and are not official or even real changes to the flag used by Iraq, they should not be included and especially not linked to specific years as historical variants
Flag of Iraq

Here is the code which should replace the one in the template to make the changes
I have checked file usage to see that it will not break anything

Done, including the Arab Federation flag (despite it having its own template, which I've added to the related templates). I also changed the sole use of the earlier WFB flags that needed updating to the 1991 variant. SiBr4 (talk) 20:40, 16 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbox

[edit]

Hello! Can you add a sandbox for this template

. With all the variants as such.

Yours sincerely, Sondre --62.73.207.204 (talk) 09:53, 30 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Sondre, consider creating an account instead. Once you are autoconfirmed (which is not hard), you are free to create the sandbox yourself.  Ganbaruby! (talk) 07:55, 31 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Since I just created {{Country data Mandatory Iraq}}, it would be good to add | related5 = Mandatory Iraq under the existing related4 line. —Al-Muqanna (talk) 11:01, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
