Syria
[edit]Looks like people are uploading the new revolution flag as "Flag of Syria" it's not officially changed yet but it will soon. so I think it's OK to fix it here too. this should be changed
name = "Syria", {1958, "Flag of Syria (1930–1958, 1961–1963).svg"}, {1961, "Flag of the United Arab Republic (1958–1971).svg"}, {1963, "Flag of Syria (1930–1958, 1961–1963).svg"}, {1971, "Flag of Syria (1963–1972).svg"}, {1979, "Flag of Syria (1972–1980).svg"}, "Flag of Syria.svg",
to this

For Syria, try updating by changing this:
SYR = {
name = "Syria",
{1958, "Flag of Syria (1930–1958, 1961–1963).svg"},
{1961, "Flag of the United Arab Republic (1958–1971).svg"},
{1963, "Flag of Syria (1930–1958, 1961–1963).svg"},
{1971, "Flag of Syria (1963–1972).svg"},
{1979, "Flag of Syria (1972–1980).svg"},
"Flag of Syria.svg",
},
to this:
SYR = {
name = "Syria",
{1958, "Flag of Syria (1930–1958, 1961–1963).svg"},
{1961, "Flag of the United Arab Republic (1958–1971).svg"},
{1963, "Flag of Syria (1930–1958, 1961–1963).svg"},
{1971, "Flag of Syria (1963–1972).svg"},
{1979, "Flag of Syria (1972–1980).svg"},
{2024, "Flag of the United Arab Republic (1958–1971), Flag of Syria (1980–2024).svg"},
"Flag of Syria.svg",
},

I believe the data for Georgia needs to be changed to refer to "Georgia (country)". I think this may be the following change, but I am not sure if it would break other things:
GEO = { name = "Georgia (country)",
I discovered this issue on the Aleksandre_Metreveli article with the "Association of Tennis Professionals Top Georgian male singles tennis players" infobox at the bottom, which has a flag that links to the Georgia disambiguation page. Natg 19 (talk) 23:35, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
Done – Jonesey95 (talk) 00:32, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Jonesey95: This edit appears to have broken templates such as Olympic medalist templates, which now display the country name as "Georgia (country)" with a red link. Johnj1995 (talk) 01:59, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
- It would be helpful to link to an affected page. Anyway, we might need custom handling at Module:ATP rankings. – Jonesey95 (talk) 03:43, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
- The Metreveli page linked above was a pretty good example. I've hard-coded an exception for GEO into the ATP module. Sometimes this sort of thing is unavoidable (I mean, just look at the number of exceptions coded in this module...). Primefac (talk) 12:10, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks all! Natg 19 (talk) 18:00, 15 March 2025 (UTC)

Please add GUD for Guadeloupe.
For example, the ATP ranks players representing Guadeloupe using GUD, and {{Top male singles tennis players by country|GUD}}
currently returns an error
{Top male singles tennis players by country|GUD}

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Take a look at the /data module for what I mean - I'll need at the very least the flag, and if there are historical flags as well we'll need the years they got switched. I'd do so myself but I'm being pulled in quite a few directions right now. Primefac (talk) 22:36, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
- Guadeloupe is not listed at List of IOC country codes. Joeykai: Where are you seeing "GUD" as a valid code? – Jonesey95 (talk) 13:51, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
− | + | GUD= {
name = "Guadeloupe",
"File:Unofficial flag of Guadeloupe (local).svg",
}, |
Joeykai (talk) 12:23, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for the code and the links. All of this usage differs significantly from what Wikipedia says and shows at Flag of Guadeloupe, including the one working source and the photo of the town hall, which show the flag of France. That page calls the black and yellow flag a "locally used unofficial flag" (with no sourcing). Not to mention that the three pages linked from this template's documentation do not list Guadeloupe as a member country. I would be comfortable linking GLP, the only international standard abbreviation for Guadeloupe that I could find, to the flag of France, but without real sourcing, I don't think we should use an unofficial flag or nonstandard abbreviation. – Jonesey95 (talk) 17:51, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
- I don't see how the official ATP rankings website is not a real source Joeykai (talk) 21:24, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
- A web site maintainer can make up any code they want in the absence of an official standard. This template is used by multiple types of templates to match country names and (official) flags with official, standardized country codes. "GUD" does not appear to be an official IOC, CGF, or FINA country code. "GLP" is at least an ISO country code. – Jonesey95 (talk) 21:55, 27 March 2025 (UTC)
