Template:R from stylization
Appearance
(Redirected from Template:R from stylized)
When used with the "Redirect category shell" (Rcat shell) template:
This page is a redirect. The following categories are used to track and monitor this redirect:
|
- Template {{Redirect category shell}} may be used to add one or more rcat templates, along with their parameters and categories, to a redirect. For more information, see the documentation page below.
When used by itself:
- From a stylization: This is a redirect from a stylized article title. It leads to the target in accordance with Wikipedia naming conventions for symbols and stylizations. This may help writing, searching, and international language issues.
- Use this rcat to tag only mainspace redirects; when stylized titles are in other namespaces, use {{R from modification}} instead.
This template should not be substituted nor used to tag soft redirects. |
Usage
- This redirect category (rcat) template populates both Category:Redirects from stylizations and Category:Printworthy redirects by default. In 2003, efforts were begun to support the Wikimedia Foundation's goal of increasing access and availability of Wikipedia articles in printed versions. Redirects from title stylizations are usually suitable for a printed version. In other words they are usually printworthy. See below for what to do for those few redirects that are unprintworthy.
Please do not alter the printworthy settings of this rcat without first notifying the Version 1.0 Editorial Team, who are responsible for any and all materials, including redirects, that go into a printed version of Wikipedia. |
#REDIRECT [[(target article title)]]
{{Rcat shell|
{{R from stylization}}
{{R printworthy}}
}}
- Template {{Rcat shell}} is an alias for the Redirect category shell template, which may be used to add as many appropriate rcats as needed, usually from one to seven, along with their parameters, to a redirect. For more information see the documentation on its template page. This rcat may also tag a redirect individually:
#REDIRECT [[(target article title)]]
{{R from stylization}}
- This is in accord with instructions found at Wikipedia:REDCAT.
- Use this rcat to tag any mainspace redirect from a commonly used stylization of the title of the target article. It leads to the target in accordance with Wikipedia naming conventions for symbols and stylizations and may help writing, searching and international language issues. An example is:
- If an editor deems a redirect as unprintable, then the first parameter,
|1=
, may be used in the following manner:|1=unprintworthy
…
{{Rcat shell|
{{R from stylization|1=unprintworthy}}
{{R unprintworthy}}
}}
- or the
1=
may be omitted:
{{Rcat shell|
{{R from stylization|unprintworthy}}
{{R unprintworthy}}
}}
- and if used by itself:
{{R from stylization|unprintworthy}}
{{R unprintworthy}}
- Use of the 1st parameter subdues the Printworthy redirects category and populates Category:Unprintworthy redirects.
- If this rcat is placed on any redirect in a namespace other than mainspace, it will not appear on the redirect, and it will not place the redirect in the Redirects from stylizations category. Instead, the redirect will be placed in Category:Pages with templates in the wrong namespace and will require repair. When a stylized redirect title is not in mainspace, then use {{R from modification}} instead.
