This template is used in system messages, and on approximately 11,000 pages. Changes to it can cause immediate changes to the Wikipedia user interface. To avoid major disruption, any changes should be tested in the template's /sandbox or /testcases subpages, or in your own user subpage. The tested changes can be added to this page in a single edit. Please discuss changes on the talk page before implementing them. |
For 1 hash channels add no hashes. For 2 hash channels add 1 hash. And so on. Otherwise the template will take you to the wrong channel.

Note that the third example sends the user to WP:IRCHELP due to the consensus reached at this discussion.
