Traditionally, all the royal clans of India used to claim their origin from one of the ancient & mythical [[Suryavanshi |Solar]], [[Chandravanshi | Lunar]], [[Agnivanshi | Fire]] or [[Nagvanshi | Snake]] [[Kshatriya]] races. The [[Cholas]] claimed descend from the [[Suryavanshi|Solar race]] and the [[Pandyas]] from [[Chandravanshi|Lunar]].
