2007 draft picks by the Rockets

[edit]

Billy was never a point guard..shooting guard pure and simple

Well i think that i think this is an important issue since the rockets got two new point guards. Thus, Spanoulis will have limited playing time and it was said that he's closer than ever to return to Panathinaikos!

This article has been hijacked by Spanoulis fans and passes off speculation and opinion as fact. Maverick34 00:51, 15 July 2007 (UTC) Maverick34[reply]

Nicknames

[edit]

Well check out his nicknames i don't really think he's got that many... I mean, European Kobe Bryant??? Sergiogr 21:53, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tags added

[edit]

Hi all, just wanted to clarify the cleanup tags I've added. The references should not be bare links (i.e. http://something) - you should also include the name of the site and the date it was accessed. Refer to WP:CITE for more info. You also don't need so many references for one piece of information - maximum of three references per point if it's contentious, otherwise one reference will suffice. There are also too many external links - refer to WP:EL for more info. Finally, trivia is discouraged. I suggest you integrate the info in the trivia section to within other relevant sections. If it can't be integrated, then it probably doesn't belong and can be deleted. Hope that helps! Somno (talk) 02:32, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia

[edit]

Hi, two points of the trivia section i'd like to comment on. First off, i highly doubt it that he is featured on the international cover of NBA Live 08. Plus the fact that his name means king could be easily removed. This way every greek named man should have a trivia section stating what his name really means. Many thanks. NBA Live Cover

[edit]

There was a link to the NBA live cover and some moron deleted it. Damn idiots can't leave anything alone. Here's the actual cover itself:

I actually had one of the games so it is true.

Video Highlights

[edit]

I recommend we remove the video highlights section. It's not a fan page for god's sake.Sergiogr (talk) 09:07, 21 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicate information

[edit]

do we really need his height and borthplace to be mentioned in the second paragraph if this information is already present in the infobox? i've merged the paragraphs and deleted the duplicate text. --Percival500 (talk) 13:20, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV

[edit]

there are frequent reminders of his age in the youth section. we know his birthdate, and the year in which an event happened, the reader can do the math.

also, do we really need a year-by-year account of the players progress? perhaps there should be a section for 'notable accomplishments' and order that by year, rather than a huge list detailing anything that happened inthat season. or perhaps a table compiling some of the statistics - the article looks more like a database towards the end. --Percival500 (talk) 13:20, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Who not just delete the entire page?

[edit]

I also suggest deleting Nick Galis, Panagiotis Giannakis, and Theo Papaloukas, totally useless Greek players as well, why do they even have pages here? Their fans are "out of control". Seriously, this forum is overrun with Spanoulis haters. I am not even a fan of the guy (I'm a Ginobili guy) and it's unreal how many people on wiki want his page torn apart time and again. I have had to several times restore large sections of his page that have been removed citing nothing more than "Spanoulis fans are out of control" as the reasoning. So can I start deleting whole sections of any player I choose and just give the reason as say "Yao Ming fans are out of control", or "Dirk fans are out of control", or "Pau Gasol fans are out of control", or etc? I mean they have year by year sections. Did it ever occur to you geniuses that maybe, just maybe, Spanoulis started getting a year by year because he was playing in the NBA?

Get off your lazy rear ends and make some other Euro players year by year if you don't like it, but your being too lazy to do so is NOT proper justification to want to remove whole sections of the Spanoulis page simply because it ticks you off. This whole "Spanoulis fans" thing is comical. It's almost like Spanoulis haters are insulted by this page.

Why don't you guys go pick on Diamantidis' page for once, he's the Big Kahuna of Panathinaikos, not Spanoulis. Oh wait, you can't add hardly anything to his page because a guy called Sergiogr controls it almost entirely. Right, that's a Diamantidis fan "out of control" (keeping the article almost completely useless), shall we delete the Diamantidis page then? BTW, to the geniuses that keep suggesting to REMOVE valid info from these pages, why don't you go start doing to that to the NBA players' pages. Since you seem to think that a year by year info is not allowed here and so many of them have a year by year.

Considering most of the big players in the NBA have a year by year format, good luck with that. And good luck with ever getting a clue. Spanoulis has a year by year like a lot of NBA players - so maybe just maybe some other European players should get the same.

Rather than being LAZY, VERY LAZY, and refusing to add year by years for some other European players you would rather delete one that is already there. SUPER LAZY and totally unworthy of wikipedia editing.

The NBA is totally SUPERIOR in basketball even in how player's pages get edited on wikipedia because the guys working on the Euro project are completely lazy and unqualified to do the job. What a joke. --Wiki Greek basketball (talk) 23:55, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First off, wikipedia is not a forum. Then i do believe that you are a spanoulis fan. Ioannes Tzimiskes asked to keep a certain level and he removed trivial facts such as: "Spanoulis' acquaintances usually call him Billy" which is certainly not encyclopedic and is only of the very few articles that contain useless details such as the one i mentioned and many more (see:His name means King in arabic". Wiki Greek Basketball i know that you have at least another couple of accounts Apollon Hellas and Euroleague Basketball Project that i remember having had the same problem with this account of yours ie Vassilis Spanoulis article. I also don't think that i am a Diamantidis fan, even if i were i would not edit the pages the way you do. And don't ever again refer to my name like this or i report you for personal attacks. NBA section

[edit]

Why is the NBA portion of his playing career presented out of sequence? Readers who aren't already familiar with Spanoulis will be confused when the "Professional years" section jumps from 2005-2006 to 2007-2008. Zagalejo^^^ 19:11, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Accusing me of things is a personal attack

[edit]

Also constantly harassing someone and constantly reverting their legit edits is a personal attack. Also constantly labeling any personal edit as a "fan boy edit" even to people who never even made the edit originally as in this case is a personal attack.

As for the Spanoulis section I have cleaned it up several times and never even made these edits I am being accused of making, also against site rules.

And for the people who complain and bicker so much, unlike them I have actually cleaned up the article rather than just complaining about it. I guess I will have to spend another several hours doing the same because of again complete laziness by others. BTW, I am going to systematically start applying these standards to every pro basketball player page on Wiki and if people don't like it I will be giving a detailed report to moderators, because it is wrong to just apply a double standard to just one player profile which in fact is the opposite of uniformity, the reason being given for why a few people constantly want the Spanoulis article taken down. Vandalism (July 2014)

[edit]

Reverted the article to an older revision, due to repeated vandalism including changing of the player's club and biography content. Also submitted request for temporary semi-protection of the article. Tdiamantidis (talk) 16:23, 21 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
