GA review:

Lead

[edit]
  • There is no need for three paragraphs in lead combine them in two.
  • Mention that the club supporters are known as misfits.

History

[edit]
  • Link "treasurer".
  • Why in first instance the "treasurer" is capitalized but in the next sentence it isn't?
  • Cite needed for Dixon's death.
  • Cite needed for Hodgson's return and the change of his status at the club.
For the last two points, from "With Harry Dixon's death in 2002..." to "Stephen Moralee has now taken over as club secretary" is all covered by the History reference. Fintan264 (talk) 13:01, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Colours and crest

[edit]
  • Avoid using words like "famously" WP:PEACOCK ; Check for similiar words in the article.
  • Cite needed for club/regional colours.
  • Cite needed for club crest.

Supporters

[edit]
  • Maybe you could dig up some more info because currently this section looks very short and choppy.

Club records

[edit]

Merge the three paragraphs containing info about cup runs into one.

Players

[edit]

"The Northern League does not use a squad numbering system"; cite needed for this sentence.

I may have been wrong to put this in. There are photos online of players with numbers on their backs, here for example, but there is no list of numbers for the squad on the official website or anywhere that I can find. Not sure what to do. Fintan264 (talk) 15:26, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You were right to put that in, anywhere below the Conference National do not use the numbering system.–LiamTaylor19:30, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think it needs a cite; it's not contentious, it's a fact. The starting players just wear 1–11, there are no registered numbers in the Northern Premier League. BigDom 19:49, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough,I'm dropping this. Utinsh (talk) 20:18, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The entire claim can be dropped: squad numbering is quite commonly not used outside of professional level. If we need to add this to articles we should add support for a note to that effect to the squad list template itself. Current staff

[edit]

Cite needed for staff members.

Overall

[edit]

Mainly needs some more references and article is good to go. Prose looks good and is neutral, references are formatted properly, images look good. I'll put the article on hold because the issues I've found are minor and shouldn't be hard to fix. Utinsh (talk) 10:50, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've completed the requested improvements as as far as I can and I've notified above where I've had problems. Fintan264 (talk) 15:38, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, to be fair it sounded a bit weird in first place, but try bring up this issue at WP:FOOTBALL. Maybe there really are no strict rules in this league about having numbers on the back of the shirts and someone might clear up this issue for us and provide a possible reference. Utinsh (talk) 19:16, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
All issues addressed to my satisfaction and I learned something new about non-league football. Utinsh (talk) 20:22, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The claim was not that they don't have numbers on their shirts at all in the Northern League, they definitely do. What they don't have is squad numbers i.e. player X is assigned a particular number at the start of the season and always wears that number. In the NL the eleven players who start a match simply wear numbers 1 to 11, no matter who they may be -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 00:20, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
