Tom Penny did not tag along to skating events with his parents nor was his mother a sponsored skater. In true tom penny style he probably wouldn't care what anyone wrote about him but i think knowing him and reading such lies makes me want to change this article because i respect wikipedia and it's values as I respect Tom Penny and his talent, discovered at an early age by an older oxford based skater. With nothing to do with his parents, being skateboarders. He does not live in Oxford either.I hope someone deletes that crap about his mother and his tagging along to skate events.

In response to above paragraph:

If you respect the values of wikipedia, then why didn't you do the homework it requires? Oxford was mentioned in his bio on the esfootwear.com site. They aren't the authority on Penny, but other sites said Dorchester and Dorset, but since he worked with es for 10 years, I thought it was more credible. As for the rest of the "crap" I wrote, this information came from Penny himself. You'll find it in an interview done in 1993 in an issue of the U.K. skateboard magazine R.a.D. (I posted it on google for you: type in Tom Penny Interview) Gee, since you know him, how is it that you didn't know about this? As for the use of the phrase 'tag along,' his mother brought him when he was too young to go alone, and so I used this choice of words because he was only able to go due to her letting him. But if that is not accurate enough, then abide by the values of wikipedia that you respect so much (one comes to mind: "contribute, contribute, contribute.") —Preceding unsigned comment added by The Underground (talkcontribs)

I always think it's funny when someone complains about something and then doesn't bother to change it. Do they not see the "anyone can edit" part of the Wikipedia tagline? --Liface 22:51, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In response to response; I really apologise for being rude. I am a personal friend who knows him pre fame, thus even before he got on a skateboard, and when he did, and sort of now, i dunno i must have misenterpreted the tag along stuff, but as far as i remember you wrote something about his mum being signed and was a skater. anyway i tried to get it changed but am not particularly into writing comments was in a bad mood, couldn't even believe he was in there!. sorry i don't really have an interest in skating but obviously have always known pennys rise in the skating world well enough through close associations. but what you have written now seems much better as i said before i probably shouldn't have written anything but it's much more like the truth, in england tagging alongside someone implies they are followers, d'you get what I mean? by the way he lives in california now! unfortunately I am not a wikipedia buff, and was apprehensive to change, edit the article incase i offended whoever wrote it. Plus on reflection even mr penny himself probably likes to elaborate on the truth!!! apologies,

Thanks for the apology. You should read the most important Wikipedia policy of all: be bold!

OK peeps, here is the truth! I am a huge Penny fan and have re written most of his Wiki page to get rid of untruths and grammar mistakes, and add to his true story as far as anyone but Tom knows it. Penny indeed had an interview in the early 90's where he said his mother was a sponsored skateboarder. He was joking! Tom has always been known for not giving a damn about most things, and the same can be said about interviews. In true English style, he was being sarcastic. So no one is really wrong in this arguement, he did say that, but it is not true! Simple as that! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.244.72.127 (talk) 23:24, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You shouldn't write a Wikipedia entry that is strictly from your "fan" perspective. This entire Wikipedia entry reads as a Tom Penny tract, like his mother wrote it or something. Even the part about his alleged drug use sounds ridiculously silly ("missed a few steps"...?). Stop using Wikipedia as a fansite! This article needs serious revision. I wouldn't be the one to do it - I came here looking for honest information about the man; got nothin'.

I was just wanting to point out that the article says that he currently lives in California, but that he also currently lives in England. Well, that doesn't make any sense, so why don't you fix it? 24.9.55.65 22:32, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
