Christiansen has very few google hits, in part due to the earliness of his crimes relative to the Web, in part because he was not fantastically charismatic, like some serial killers. His impact on the Isla Vista area was quite great, however, with large demonstrations against violence against women, and for better transportation. snug 23:49, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, I agree his name isn't well known. Perhaps even less so are the names of his victims -- one of whom, Patty Laney, was my cousin. We both graduated from Whittier H.S. in Whittier, CA in 1973. Her death was a devastating experience for the family, needless to say. She was an aspiring juggler while studying at UCSB, and there are a number of memorials and tributes to her on the web in connection with avocation. --Steve Bob (talk) 15:52, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I was the arresting detective and investigator of these cases, along with Sgt. Bill Baker of the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Dept. When we received this case, it was considered a cold case. Other investigators had worked on it but were unable to solve the case. Recent media reviews have generated Sgt. Baker and me, Det. Fred Ray, to consider other aspects of Thor Christiansen's activities. We are both retired but still interested, again, in Christiansen's were abouts from 1977 to 1979, before his 1979 arrested. We know that he was attending Santa Barbara City College in 1979, but prior to that he spent approximately two years in Oregon. In 1979, Oregon Police Agencies were contacted in an effort to determine if he was responsible for additional murders in that state. All the agencies contacted could not provide additional leads. I had received confidential information that Christiansen was responsible for other murders in Oregon. I am unable to remember where in Oregon Christiansen was staying, between 1977 to 1979. Does anyone know? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.237.98.239 (talk) 21:09, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There are plenty of references for this article. Indeed they are not distributed well inline, but there is more than adequate secondary source material quoted. snug (talk) 23:02, 26 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Markobigo (talk) 06:36, 4 February 2008 (UTC)I would like to discuss this article with those who have an interest and especially those who have been editing it. I knew Thor since the 6th grade and last ran into him only a few days before his arrest. It would surprise you to know where he was working at the time of his arrest. I know. I gave him ride. I picked him up at the workplace of his girlfriend. I knew her in high school, too. I would like the person with the username "Mealey" to contact me or at least let me know where their information came from. I will let thid go for a month and then I will edit it back to the correct information. Others who have made contributions have done a very credible job and I'm glad that they created this article.[reply]
