[edit]I have removed mischaracterization of the Thembu as being Xhosa and as a clan rather than a people. The information I have added needs to be linked to other relevant articles; I intend to return to do this, to give references, and to add some additional historical information, particularly about the resistance of the Thembu king Sabata Dalindyebo to spurious "independence" for the Transkei under apartheid and his support of the ANC. Bantustan
[edit]Is not an official word, but a polemical term from Agitprop. --105.12.2.48 (talk) 20:45, 25 April 2018 (UTC)
Xhosa phrase
[edit]I've removed the phrase AbaThembu ababhuzu-bhuzu, abanisi bemvula ilanga libalele from the lede paragraph. I'm not finding it used as a proper name for the people or clan and where it does appear online seems to be derivative of the phrase's use in this article. According to Google Translate, it means "The Thembus don't wear shoes, they don't rain when the sun shines." This was added as the sole edit by Ngoza (talk · contribs) in Special:Diff/916152525. The rest of the paragraph added in that edit should be carefully vetted and sourced, too (if not discussed and sourced later in the article). —Carter (Tcr25) (talk) 17:32, 12 September 2023 (UTC)
Tone
[edit]- The article uses terms like "we" and "i", violating MOS:PERSON, and the tone in general feels unencyclopedic.
- The article has loads of grammar errors too, forgetting punctuation a lot. It reads
[...] he begot Malandela (not of AmaZulu years before), who settled in Mozambique, who begot Mbulali, who begot Njanye, who begot Mthembu
. What does that mean?
I will try to resolve the tone and grammar myself too, but I hope others can help too. Apenguinlover<talk>() 16:39, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
