Even though I didn't create the page or suggested the merging, I would say that I actually thought of creating the The Simpsons Halloween Episodes page, because this article is actually only about a single episode in the Treehouse of Horror series. My thought was to move the text in The Simpsons#Halloween episodes to The Simpsons Halloween Episodes and summarise the section in the main article. --Maitch 13:11, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking about this the other day, maybe a List of The Simpsons Halloween episodes or something... keep the per episode articles alone... The Simpsons Halloween Episodes doesn't seem like much right now, maybe we could just finish it out and give it a proper name... - Adolphus79 13:18, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that there should be some sort of page that is about all of the Treehouse of Horror episodes and it shouldn't be Treehouse of Horror. I'm not sure yet how it should be done. Any ideas are appreciated. --Maitch 12:38, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have now dumped the text from the main article into The Simpsons Halloween Episodes and summarised the main article. I don't think that we have to make it into a list - we already got the template. We might have to rename it. I think that The Simpsons Halloween episodes is fine, but Treehouse of Horror episodes is also an option. --Maitch 20:34, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I like the idea of The Simpsons Halloween episodes (just a de-cap of this article), or maybe even a Special holiday episodes of The Simpsons, and include the Christmas episodes also? - Adolphus79 23:13, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I moved the article to The Simpsons Halloween episodes and removed the merge suggestion. I wouldn't rename it to Special holiday episodes of The Simpsons, before somebody actually wrote something about Christmas episodes. --Maitch 08:08, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I came to this article expecting it to be about the Treehouse of Horror episodes, not just the first one. I strongly feel the article should be renamed "Treehouse of Horror I" and the Halloween Episodes article should go under the "Treehouse of Horror" title. CGameProgrammer 21:14, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A consensus to the contrary has already been reached, view the above discussion on the issue. The name of the episode was "Treehouse of Horror", not "Treehouse of Horror I", and that's pretty much all tere is to say about it; One is right, the other isn't. Besides, the article links to a general discussion of The Simpsons Halloween episodes in its first sentence, so there isn't really much misleading going on. — Mütze 21:37, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
But that's not really true, is it? "The Simpsons Halloween Special" was the name of the episode. CGameProgrammer 17:25, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but later episodes were changed to Treehouse of horror and thats how it has been ever since. if they were redoing the early episodes i bet they would call it treehouse of horror.

First 3 canon

[edit]

"The Treehouse of Horror episodes generally don't obey the rest of the series' rules of realism, and are not treated as canon, although the first three are set-up in a fashion that they could be considered canon."

If one presumes that Homer's only dreamed he woke up to find Burn's head on his neck, then III could count.

Hopefully this is covered in the DVD commentary, otherwise it's probably OR. - Peregrine Fisher (talk) (contribs) 01:17, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In a parody of Edward Van Sloan's introduction to the original 1931 Frankenstein film,Marge warns the audience that this episode may frighten some viewers and suggests that parents with sensitive children "tuck them into bed early tonight instead of writing us angry letters tomorrow". This practice was kept up in a small number of subsequent episodes. The creators eventually decided that people knew that the episodes were scary and stopped adding warnings. The opening is similar to the canonical opening, save for a thunderstorm, the blood-cut title, cutting out the gags, and instead have a look at the cemetery, then cut to the Simpsons house and go into the backyard into Bart's treehouse. This will continue until the sixth special, with moon mud for Roman numerals.

Original name of the show is not listed - The Simpsons Halloween Special II

[edit]

It would be great if someone included the original name of the show. It was not titled "Treehouse of Horror", but The Simpsons Halloween Special II. This applies for many other Halloween shows. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Snippert (talkcontribs) 16:01, 4 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
