Fair use rationale for Image:Someone To Drive You Home.jpg
[edit]Image:Someone To Drive You Home.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:59, 6 June 2007 (UTC
Long Blondes picture
[edit]- Moved here from User talk:Trialsanderrors
I'm not convinced that the live pic you put up is suitable, you refer to Fair Use article point 17, which doesn't exist. I don't disagree that a live pic could be ok, but i don't think thats the one to use. I do however think that the promo pic was more suitable, as their look is such a key part of their appeal (see also the fact they have a section entitled Style on their page). - Sorry #17 was the wrong number. #12 is about live groups: Pictures of people still alive, groups still active, and buildings still standing; provided that taking a new free picture as a replacement (which is almost always considered possible) would serve the same encyclopedic purpose as the non-free image. However, for some retired or disbanded groups, or retired individuals whose notability rests in part on their earlier visual appearance, a new picture may not serve the same purpose as an image taken during their career. Generally, we just keep looking for better free alternatives (you can also write Flickr users if they're willing to make their pictures available under a free license), but for active bands we never use non-free images. ~ trialsanderrors 16:39, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
- Presumably the band or Rough Trade could be presumed upon to give permission for the promo shot?Wwwhatsup 04:55, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- That's a possible solution, as long it's a free license (CC-BY or CC-BY-SA) and not just an permission to use it on Wikipedia. ~ trialsanderrors 19:22, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Discography
[edit]Sadly, under current Wikipedia non-free content policy, gallery style discographies are no go. The Couples pic has already been give a fair-use tag, so it's just a matter of time before it gets removed. The Discography should be reformatted into a table. [edit]Hello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to 2 external links on The Long Blondes. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}}
after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}}
to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
- Attempted to fix sourcing for http://geocities.com/godisinthetv2003/longblondesint.htm
- Added archive https://web.archive.org/20110718205842/http://img118.imageshack.us/img118/6531/yieldinsertqc4.jpg to http://img118.imageshack.us/img118/6531/yieldinsertqc4.jpg
When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true to let others know.
