Article title change
[edit]The Contemporary Museum in Honolulu merged with the Honolulu Academy of Arts in July 2011, and the combined collections are now called the Honolulu Museum of Art. The former Contemporary Museum location is now called the Honolulu Museum of Art Spalding House. I propose that this article be renamed Honolulu Museum of Art Spalding House, to reflect these changes. Thoughts? extabulis (talk) 18:14, 29 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hm, I've discovered there's also an article on the Spalding House. I haven't done much with merging and splitting articles yet - is there enough of an overlap to merge these two articles? If the article is renamed Honolulu Museum of Art Spalding House, it could still cover both the original house and the museum. extabulis (talk) 18:20, 29 October 2014 (UTC)
- On advice from the Teahouse, I'm going to move this page to Honolulu Museum of Art Spalding House. I'd still appreciate any thoughts on a merge with Spalding House. extabulis (talk) 16:46, 30 October 2014 (UTC)
This article is about an institution
[edit]This article is about an institution, The Contemporary Museum, Honolulu, which has been merged into the Honolulu Museum of Art. There are separate articles about the historic building, Spalding House, and about the Honolulu Museum of Art.Wmpearl (talk) 01:40, 1 November 2014 (UTC)
- OK we need to be clear if the article is to be about the Contemporary Museum only up to the date of the merger, or include the incarnation as "Honolulu Museum of Art Spalding House". If the latter then the newer name would seem to be appropriate. If the former we will need another article at Honolulu Museum of Art Spalding House or to expand the section Honolulu_Museum_of_Art#Honolulu_Museum_of_Art_Spalding_House.

Remove this article?
[edit]I've just edited Spalding House, noting that it's now closed and on the market, and I think it should be kept and this one deleted, because it had another museum incarnation before it became "Honolulu Museum of Art, Spalding House." Can someone take care of that? User: HarZim
