Jazz Club?

[edit]

In the late 1970's to early 1980's, in addition to the downstairs pit, there used to be an upstairs section where they would occasionally have small jazz groups. Is there any documentation (verification, citations) of that? I also remember a Pearly Queen performing in the pit at an allegedly open talent-contest, although I think the Pearly Queen was a regular act to back up the evening if no-one wanted to make a fool of themselves. This was very-much pre-Karaoke (in North America, at least). I remember nothing about free drinks and topless female audience members, however. This was very much before Gwen Jacob, however.--SportWagon (talk) 04:24, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This might be true, but we need to find some sources for it. I did most of my research using the Proquest newspaper archive, and it only goes back to 1985. Details of anything earlier are thus absent from this article. - SimonP (talk) 14:10, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
